I’m almost too zen-ed out to write a review! This was such a tranquil getaway & Caitriona & Michele were very kind hosts. Thank you! The “hermitage” was very private & stayed magically cool through the afternoon sun while still getting warm enough to keep the window open at night! I’d describe it as 50% camping (sleeping on cots & peeing outside if you don’t want to do the walk to the common area) & 50% cabin (everything is set up for you and there’s access to the super well stocked kitchen, shower etc). The kitchen & bathroom are a short (2 min?) walk down the hill. There’s a beautiful stretch of the PCT less than 10 mins away. Sunrises & sunsets & stars, oh my! I hope to be back again soon. Thanks again!

The perfect weekend with my daughter. Caitriona was incredibly welcoming, both on hand to help with any questions, but also very calm and respectful of our space. The hut was idyllic. Warm at night and cool in the day, with two comfy futons. It’s situated a little away from the main house and felt completely private and serene.

The place was quiet and peaceful. I ended up leaving a day early due to the weather but overall my experience was good.
Everything was kept up really well, there was access to hot water, restrooms, and kitchen.

Hosts were lovely, easy to meet, and the grounds are peaceful. This little place is so cute and stayed warm overnight, had a great view of the sunset, and felt just far enough from the rest of the grounds to feel private. My little dog and I had a nice time. We hiked to Eagle Rock the next day, just a 5 minute drive away.

I loved it here. I don’t think I’ve ever been anywhere more beautiful or more quiet. The hermitage stayed plenty warm even when temps got down to 35 °F at night. The kitchen has everything you need and shower was hot!

Staying in the Hermitage was a blissful and grounding experience. The earthen cabin was comfortable, the futon was lovely to sleep on, and the place stayed cool in the day and warm at night. I loved wandering the grounds, looking for wildflowers and feeling the breeze on my face. Caitriona is welcoming and kind, and the common kitchen area was clean and well appointed for all my cooking needs. I felt totally alone while at the Hermitage, and I spent my time writing, reading, and napping. Highly recommend for those wanting to get away to a part of California that feels empty and wild.

The small adobe cabin on the hillside was a wonderful place to spend a peaceful evening. Two single beds that were comfy and extra blankets if needed. The setting is stunning, highly recommend waking up for the sunrise. Had a great time walking around the rest of the property as well including the labyrinth. Communal kitchen down the path from the cabin is well stocked with any tools or cooking ware you might need. Bathrooms were clean and water hot, make sure to bring your own towels if you want to shower. Highly recommend Manzanita Village in Warner Springs.

The area and view are beautiful - love being able to see mountains in every direction. The small house is so very cozy. I enjoyed walking the labyrinth and watching the sky and clouds change in the valley throughout the day. Communal kitchen is very well stocked and had everything I needed. Overall enjoyed my solo stay here and felt rested and surrounded by nature.

I loved staying at the cottage on the hill at Manzanita Village. It was cozy and peaceful. The mornings were bright and quiet, and the sites were unforgettable. I loved the view from the large window, it was a great way to wake up. I also enjoyed the built in bench at the front of the cottage. I played out my yoga mat and blanket and gazed up at the stars one night. I would definitely return.

I had a very relaxing time at Caitriona and Michele's place. They were responsive to questions and helpful if I needed anything. The directions to get there were clear and it was easy to find. The hermitage had beautiful views and was a wonderful and quiet refuge. :)

A very peaceful and secluded getaway in the countryside. Michele was a friendly host and greeted us when we arrived. The views were beautiful and the communal setup had everything you’d need - full kitchen, fridge, bathrooms, shower. The adobe cabin is up on a hill, away from the main property, so you have ultimate privacy. It was beautiful watching the sunset and stargazing at night. If you want peace and quiet, definitely check it out.

This place was stunning. Michele and Caitriona were so welcoming, and Mazanita feels like an oasis out of time. It's a perfect place for a weekend away and some quiet self-reflection. The views are stunning, and there are gorgeous places to explore. Highly recommend!

This is the second time that I have stayed here. This time, I brought a friend and she loved the cabin and the surroundings. The little cabin was warm despite the cold outside because of its construction. It was a full moon so we didn't see the stars as much as we hoped. The landscape is beautiful, the hosts are wonderful, and the price is very reasonable.

The little cabin was nestled in the rocky foothills near Warner Springs with a profound quiet in the air. It kept warmth without a heat source, had plenty of blankets, and the night sky was sublime, with a double rainbow around the moon one night.
Access to the retreat center kitchen and the bathrooms was easy, with plenty of hot water for a shower. The retreat center environment gave off a calming air.

Our stay was so wonderful . Quiet - serene - beautiful - relaxing and meditational.
My wife and I brought our dogs and let them free roam the whole weekend . It was a perfect “glamping” location with access to amenities and shower / restroom / kitchen , but staying in private earthship cabin. We definitely want to return asap. Saw more stars at night then in Borrego ! The hosts were awesome and generous . Highly recommended .

Amazing spot far enough from San Diego and secluded enough from the main property. Very quiet, amazing place to star gaze and breathe in some fresh air. The Hermitage was cozy even with lows in the 30s. Beautiful property and will definitely be back soon!

Friendly and accessible hosts, but also hands off and allow you your privacy. There were no other guests while I was there. Warm overnight in the dwelling, despite overnight lows in the 30s. Excellent stargazing and beautiful views. Extremely quiet with lots of birds in the nearby Chapparral. Bulls and deer in the distance.
The communal kitchen is extremely well equipped with fridge, freezer, and a giant stove. Lots of cookware. You can cook anything you could dream of here, no need to stick to typical portable stove camping meals.
