This land has been a community gathering space for the Native's Ceremony and Healing Space for over a thousand years. Feast your eyes upon the Matates and traces of the people that once gathered here so long ago. Upon the mid 1800's we had a Settler named Nate Harrison find this to be the ideal space, and he set up homestead here, and lived an amazing full life. He was to become the first African American to aquire land here in San Diego County, and his homestead remains to this day; studied by archaeology students to this day. Sensitive habitat and magic lies within our gates, and we must approach the mountain as we would any sacred space; with RESPECT. We welcome you to enjoy Nate's land and inspire who you are deep inside your heart.

Camping at Harrison Serenity Ranch
Nice views, but rough road
We had a decent stay at Serenity Ranch. Our camp site didn’t offer anything special as the ones with nice views were occupied. Maybe having a view would’ve called for a different experience. I recommend to bring battery operated fans and bug repellent candles, they will help. As during the summer the heat was well into the 90s and there were a lot of flies. I don’t know if I’d recommend this location for people with low profile cars because the road up is a little rough (bumpy/narrow) and doesn’t call for a comfortable drive up the mountain. We made it up, driving less than 10 miles an hour to avoid scrapping the bottom of the car on some of the bumps. We did love the dog “Solo” who roams around the property, such a good boy who visited our campsite daily.

Great for the dogs!
We had a great time. It was our second time camping at this property. It's beautiful and the staff is very helpful.

Camping at Harrison Serenity Ranch
Peaceful, serene, and friendly
Vicki's land is BEAUTIFUL. Definitely be warned that the trip up the mountain is definitely better suited to those with SUVs. The views are stunning and Vicki and her family are incredibly kind and accommodating, even offering us extra firewood! Service is spotty on the mountain but available. Bring bug spray and extra sunscreen!

Camping (Glamping)
Bathroom and showers were convenient place was spacious was good shade when it got too hot but was not as happy as I thought I was when renting a tent, first we arrive and had to wait 20-30 min for someone to take us to the suite then once we got to the tent there was no canopy on top ,so the sun was directly hitting the tent. This is why we paid extra for the canopy to avoid the tent to be as hot as a sauna we couldn’t enter the tent till night time due to it being so hot.

Camping at Harrison Serenity Ranch
Not my favorite camping experience.
Palomar Mtn is a beautiful area, and I was really looking forward to camping here (we'd camped before at the Observatory Campground and loved it). I was somewhat disappointed as it seemed that this campground has been a bit neglected and really could use some TLC. I loved that our Golden Retriever could roam free, and that we were in a site close to the one set of bathrooms (which has only one sink!), but I won't be going back. We ended up leaving early due to the excessive heat and crazy amount of bugs, but even without that, it won't be a place I return.

Camping at Harrison Serenity Ranch
This place is fine but feels like a junkyard. We camped here last year and it was so much better. But this year there is just so much junk everywhere, old furniture, old carpets, and chicken wire strewn about. The host was nice and the bathrooms were clean.
