Lucky Star Ranch is one of approximately 100 similar small ranches in the equestrian-oriented community of Garner Valley. Our ranches were built on land once occupied by miners who came for the valley's short-lived gold rush in the late 1800's Many of our roads are named after mines dug in the hills above us. Our area was also the summer home of the Cahuilla Indians, who came here to escape the heat of the desert. The Cahuillas later coexisted peacefully with the early cattle ranchers who operated the historic Thomas Ranch, later re-named Garner Ranch, since the 1800s. In the 1940s and 1950s, Garner Valley was a favorite location for the filming of Western movies and television programs.
