perfect spot. one of my favorite parts of hipcamp is the option to search for more private spots. if you’re looking for a quiet & private retreat for a few nights…this one is wonderful. spacious spot with an absolutely stunning sunrise. will definitely be back!

This is an incredibly peaceful site, where the only sound at night is the ocean and the only reminder that you are close to a major city are the planes flying in and out of SFO in the distance. We saw lots of wildlife like a family of quails hanging around the edge of the site. Our dog loved exploring the area. We were hoping to hike on the redwood forest trail that ends near the site, but realized dogs are not allowed there, so we just walked down the road from the site instead and enjoyed the beautiful valley views until we could see the ocean. It definitely would be more of a primitive camping experience if not for the pristine Porta-potty, which we didn’t mind. The picnic table and chairs were a nice bonus, though the umbrellas were missing some parts. As others have mentioned and the host shared with us, things will be quite wet in the morning. Rebecca gave us super helpful recommendations on which nearby beaches we could take our dog

This spot was perfect for our group of 10! It was so nice to have to have the entire camp to ourselves, and there was plenty of flat space to spread out so nobody’s tents were on top of each other. The view over the rolling hills was beautiful, especially at sunset. Directions were very clear, the camp was easy to find, and everything was as described. There is no shade at the camp, which was fine for us in October, but I imagine it’s get quite toasty in summer.

We had a great time here at Lobitos Creek. It was private and very clean although a bit bare. Views were decent but weren't great due to the high foliage from the campsite. Very wet in the AM more or less like rain, must make sure to keep anything you want dry stored away properly. Awesome site with a big group and pets!

We read the description and the reviews of this Hipcamp and felt incredibly deceived and confused when we got there. Maybe it has been let go or something but holy cow was this place awful! The drive to it was gorgeous. Literally could have pulled off anywhere else and had a magical camping experience but no… we followed the instructions to the site, that forgot to mention the junk yard next to the portapotty, and came across a dirt lot with a couple of old tables, two half broken sun umbrellas, a fully broken hammock, a large water jug filled with… not water, tons of thistles and a few piles of charcoal and ashes. When we got out to set up camp, after debating turning around to go home or not, we noticed a bunch of holes all over the ground with spiderwebs. We tried to park our camper in the area with the least of these so our two young girls and dogs could explore. Once the sun went down we saw spiders as big as a mandarin orange and assume that’s what’s living in all those holes. The views were pretty and there were some mowed “trails” that had signs to different things. We followed some signs to a pond. SO AWFUL! Disgusting algae filled pond with broken boat, jet ski, paddle board and kayak all abandoned. Just disgusting. We had a fun time as a family despite the location but texted a friend who was considering booking this place right when we got service again DO NOT BOOK!!! It did feel “safe” from like humans and bears… or whatever. And yeah.. views were nice.

Gorgeous site! Very clean, with a large flat surface that accommodates multiple campers. It's also great to have the porta potty, table, and chairs. This was our second time camping here, and we will be back. Pro tips: a short bike ride to Pescadero for breakfast or a quick drive to Granola’s and the Purissima Creek trail in Half Moon Bay. A very special site that we feel lucky to get to rent on Hipcamp.

Pros: plenty of land to have a big family/friend gathering here.
Secluded so our 2 pups enjoyed running around.
There is an okay portable toilet.
Cons:
To get here we had to come up very slow as the roads spiraled (too much for our campervan)
We walked the grounds a lot and only got a bar of service for a few minutes.
The price in my opinion is too high for this area and what you get.

Hidden safe gem for quick camping

What a gem this camping site was. The views were spectacular. We felt very safe and also got to enjoy orchestral coyote howling sounds at dusk. We slept even better than when at home.
Our senior dog was able to be off the leash and be the free mountain dog she was born to be.
We will be back and bring grandma along plus other kids and families.
P.S: Highly recommend getting a portable fire grill as not only it allowed us to cook but also enjoy a fire and have s’mores wile respecting the site rules.

Spacious campsite and gorgeous view. The kids and our pups had an amazing time. The beach was also only a 10 min drive away. The location is easy to miss once you lose cell phone reception so keep an eye out for a sign with a Hipcamp logo on it. Also, heads-up that it was very dewy in the morning from condensation, so much so that everything was wet the next morning and we had a lot of mud to deal with which wasn't ideal. Be sure not to leave any electronics out overnight and color your camp chairs with plastic. Protect anything you don't want to get wet. Other than the condensation, the porto potty was clean and view was amazing.

We had a family camping trip that was the best! The privacy, views and location were all ideal. We hope to make it an annual event. Fun hint: play bocce ball. The site is level enough and big enough for it, but the wonky terrain creates for a challenging, and quite hysterically funny, game.

Camped here for one night on a long road trip and really loved it. The location is pretty easy to find even though we came in at sunset. The space is large and would be super fun with a small group. It was just me and my partner so we chilled and cooked dinner. The provided table was large and made it easy to cook outside under the stars.

Lobitos Creek site was absolutely gorgeous. We haul a 20ft Airstream, and have been up and down the California coast for 40 years and this HipCamp site is the most beautiful and not too far from the "real life" at Half Moon Bay. Rebecca is the perfect host.
