Apple Valley is a unique destination steeped in rich history, making it more than just a place to visit. Officially incorporated as a Town in 1988, its roots extend far deeper into the past. Local historians have uncovered evidence of Serrano Indian camps along the Mojave River, indicating that these indigenous people inhabited the area long before European explorers arrived. Father Francisco Garces, who established Spanish missions across California, reached this region in 1776, marking the beginning of significant cultural interactions. In the late 1800s, the Paiute Indians migrated to Apple Valley, adding to the area's diverse heritage. The Mojave River Trail became a vital route for trappers, gold prospectors, and Mormon wagon trains, with over 13,000 travelers passing through between 1849 and 1859. The first permanent structure, a cabin built by Silas Cox, was established in 1860, followed by the construction of the first road in 1861, paving the way for future development. Today, Apple Valley offers a blend of historical significance and modern amenities, making it an ideal spot for outdoor enthusiasts. Visitors can explore nearby natural features, enjoy swimming holes, and partake in various outdoor activities. The town also boasts a selection of restaurants and shops.
