Private sites
97% of recent Hipcampers say the sites felt private.
This campsite is a natural setting in the corner of our lower pasture. It features several oaks and lots of room. It is an extremely private spot free from other campers or busy traffic. This site now includes a picnic table on a leveled area, a firepit and a toilet . Water is available if you wish to hike a bit up a hill. You can enjoy our beautiful evening skies, sunrises and starlit nights. If you are looking for a peaceful, poison oak free, quiet hideaway, this is your place. Trails are available for walks and taking in the views of the valley below. Since this site is tucked away in our pasture we recommend that campers arrive before dark. We are located near Lake San Antonio, Lake Nacimiento, San Antonio Mission, San Miguel Mission, Fort Hunter Liggett, and the Nacitone Museum. There is local wine tasting and we are 45 minutes away from wine tasting in Paso Robles. Many campers find this to be an ideal meeting place for family and friends coming from the north and south.

Hideaway Oaks
Super Private
We ran late and ended up coming after dark. Still super easy to locate with the posted signs and provided directions! The site was very tidy, and inviting. Would love to come back to stargaze again!

Hideaway Oaks
Beautiful sunset
Easy directions to follow to get there. Insanely pretty sunset view and secluded in the mountains. Peace and quiet other than the sound of nature. Good sight to see the stars. Bathrooms were clean. One of my favorite campsites!

Hideaway Oaks
Beautiful property! Peaceful, filled with wildlife like buddies, deer and toads. Soft comfy flat ground to pitch our tent on. Neil was friendly! Instructions to get there were clear. Stunning rolling hills made for a nice drive in. Compost toilet was clean. No complaints! :)

Hideaway Oaks
Peaceful spot for astrophotography
Neil and Karin were very welcoming and kind hosts! My teenage son has recently started taking pictures of stars, planets, galaxies and nubulae with a digital astrophotography camera called a Seestar S50. We were looking for a quiet place without city light pollution, and Hideaway Oaks was perfect! There are few different camp sites on their property but for us, the site named “Hideaway Oaks” was perfect. It was separated from the other two campsites, so that we would not disturb any other campers while we stayed up in the early morning hours to take photos of celestial objects into the wee hours, and would not have to worry about the sounds of other campers in the morning when we were trying to sleep in. As a bonus, it had its own portapotty that no other campers were using, and that was serviced and cleaned regularly. It was the literally the cleanest portapotty I have ever seen in my life and it did not even have a bad smell to it. Neil and Karin were also extremely good about communicating with us on the Hipcamp app several times to make sure we had the correct directions. (make sure you use their directions!) We did print out a few maps of the area before we drove out there, which ended up saving us when we missed a turn on the way. We had a relaxing, lovely time and my son got some excellent celestial photos! We also enjoyed seeing the jackrabbits and tons of super cute quail.
