Lovely Two-Night Getaway

Beautiful grounds and well-maintained. Well-marked hiking paths and clean shower and toilet facilities. Our Well Cabin was a delight to stay in. If something wasn't up to par, Darryl corrected it immediately.

Deceptively incomplete description

This was a mixed experience. The main thing to know is that the bathroom is not near the tent. Saul kindly helped us carry our things up to the camp site, and the view was beautiful. Darryl offered for us to use the shower in another of his properties when the hot water in our shower was not working. There are some things about this listing that are not clear. Yes, there is a bit of a climb to get to the tent. It took us about 10 minutes each way. What is not mentioned is that there is only one bathroom shared between three listings, and it is all the way at the bottom of the hill. Same with the shower. By the time you hike back up to the tent, you need another shower. The bathroom itself was very clean. While the location is very private, in that the tent is isolated from the rest of the property, there was a camera mounted to the front of the tent, with the front deck in its field of view. We were very uncomfortable with it being there. Our check-in time was 2pm, but the night before, Darryl tried to get us to come two hours later, or three and a half hours earlier. Neither was acceptable to us. I felt uncomfortable with his aggressive communication style. Overall, it was a pretty good experience, negatively affected by some unpleasant surprises.

Such an amazing experience! The hike up there is a little difficult so pack light but definitely worth it. The hike is very beautiful and seems magical almost. Tent was very clean and homey. Came with a heated blanket and mini fridge. Showers were clean and water was hot.

We camped in the space with the amazing valley and ocean view and the farther trek up the mountain was well worth the journey. It was a pretty cold night… even still the bed was so cozy and we were extremely warm the whole time. Instructions were clean and clear and there wasn’t really any wiggle room for misunderstands. The whole trip was smooth and unfortunately went by too quick. Meeting Darryl was great as well, if you get the pleasure to. Sunrise was insanely beautiful… all around, great stay

Great private getaway

The Well House was a perfect getaway. Private, clean and serene. Darryl was very accommodating and made things very easy to check in and out. Highly recommend.

Beautiful view, secluded + private

Darryl’s campsite is beautiful and private. We felt very safe and enjoyed our time. I didn’t realize there was a little village within a few minutes drive so they have everything in case you forget anything. It was so great, would definitely go back again. Thanks Darryl!

Comfortable getaway

The site was very clean and comfortable, and we had a great night's sleep on the mattress provided. The view was great and worth the hike. It is a tough hike, so plan accordingly (you'll need less than you think). Our host was very gracious and accommodating. Will definitely be going back.

Perfection.🤙🏽

From the old oak tree grove to the comfy bed to the off grid electric cooler set up, this space delivered beyond our expectations. With a trail loop right at the front door and being 30 minutes out of the city, it was a perfect getaway from the LA while still having access to everything we’re used to. Oh yeah and there was WiFi which for us was essential. The portapotty was more like a 7/10 RV bathroom than the typical toxic dump site. All in all a lot of thought and care went into tailoring the experience to a higher standard which was felt. Mahalo.

Magical Perfection

Even more than the land, Darryl was awesome. He’s a very friendly and flexible host which was really helpful, considering our last minute planning. He was super accommodating and patient with answering our questions. His property is nothing short of amazing and magical. We really enjoyed the privacy and scenery. Also the bed and pillows were super cozy!
