Site did not look like the pictures due to a precious fire. Wish this was stated as we were expecting more greenery and shade. But we made do and the important thing is the kids had fun. The outhouse has a view of some cars and RVs below the hill so I feel like if someone did happen to be down there, they could see us going potty as well. The path to the outhouse has a lot of weeds. Shower has no privacy curtain or fencing, so you'll have to wear a bathing suit but there is warm water! Overall, fine for 1 night. Appreciated the firewood that was readily available. It made a fine fire perfect for smores.

Ben's farm is such a magical place to camp at! There was plenty of space for our group of 5, and we had a blast wandering around the farm and using the outlook spot for watching the sunset and the stars. Plenty of privacy too. Thanks Ben

Easy to get to and pull into site, which had a picnic table and large tree shading the area from the heat. Very quiet and peaceful, I was the only one there! Lots of cute birds and lizards :)

The campsite was well maintained and next to the beautiful farm. It's the only site, so seclusion was a bonus. The Consumnes River, a quick 10 min drive, is a must-see.
If you stay at this campsite during hot summer days, definitely pack a canopy or shade structure; we were chasing shade the day that we stayed on site. Beautiful night sky. Loved seeing all sorts of birds, lizards, and dragonflies.

Camping on the farm was great! We played in the pond and enjoyed some delicious nectarines, courtesy of Ben. My kids and I had a great overnight and recommend this spot to anyone looking for a quick getaway.

We loved camping on Ben’s farm. I thought camping on a farm might not feel like “real” camping as much as I’d like but I was wrong! There was SO much wildlife to be heard and seen. None of the animals disturbed us either. We camped over Memorial Day weekend and did not see a single Yellowjacket as mentioned in other reviews. There’re a number of beautiful swimming spots nearby. We chose Bassi Falls (we jumped in the river ahead of the falls and had the space completely to ourselves), Jenkinson Lake (closer to the waterfall there’s a big fallen tree that creates an easy swim spot), and Middle Forks Cosumnes River off the bridge on Mt Aukum Rd.
Ben was very helpful in answering our questions. The shower worked great. We were very happy with our experience and immediately talked about coming back.

Loved coming back. The hosts were still just as friendly and helpful. The area is close to a lot of favorite trails and it feels super safe whenever I go. I can't wait to go back for a third time to enjoy the beauty.

My winter stay was wonderful! There was plenty of firewood to keep cozy, and I even gathered some squash to cook. The views were beautiful, and there are scenic hikes just a short drive away. It’s close enough to town if you need anything, but remote enough to feel like a true getaway.

Great location on a small farm in the foothills. The campsite has some decent shade most of the day under a small oak and there's also a picnic table with an umbrella. The farm was super pretty and Ben was a kind and welcoming host, who gave us some great advice to check out the swimming holes in the nearby Cosumnes River. Much of the lower part of the property was burned in the Caldor Fire, so not as nice as it would have been 3 years ago but still worthwhile.

Quiet area in the mountains where you can see the stars at night. We loved staying there for two nights - our kids especially loved the trampoline and rope swing. They want to come back again.

Very beautiful and peaceful. Loved the deck to catch some beautiful sunshine. Great host, he had led me to some beautiful hikes and super nice. I felt extremely safe being a single traveler. Very highly recommend if you're looking for safety, views and lots of beautiful land.

Property and privacy were great. Directions to site once in the gate were not obvious. One of the first directions was to take a 180 degree turn right…..isn’t that a U-turn?

It was nice for what we needed. Lots of bees around and no shower as listed though so somewhat disappointing. The lookout platform was very cool though.

It was a very unique experience. There was a trampoline for the kids to jump on, and they got to pick their own golden raspberries. They loved it. It was nice walking around the farm. There was a lot of yellow jackets but a bug tent was really handy.

Ben’s land was a very good spot for tent camping for my friends and I. There’s a pretty big tree that provided a shade throughout the day and big enough flat areas for tents. I really liked that it was the only campground with no other campers so we could relax without bothering others

Ben’s campsite was great, perfect for a night under the stars. The platform is great to catch the sunset and the camp was so peaceful. There is plenty of room for at least 2 large tents. One caution is there are some foxtail grass which I was able to keep away from my dog by putting down a blanket - if you have a more adventurous dog, you may want to keep an eye on them. The grounds were cleared right around the campsite, however. I would love to come back!

Bens organic farm was nothing less than incredible. The view from the observation deck was stunning . We brought our Cabover camper. We were able to detached our truck from it and head into FairPlay for wine tasting. We also went to Apple Hill which was only 30 minutes away. We really enjoyed having a place to come back to that was peaceful and all to ourselves. Ben was such a great host. He even came to see how we were doing on his birthday. We already planing our next visit to the farm.

It was good for our needs. Location was good as we live in the Central Valley and wanted to hike bassi falls and visit Tahoe. It was a good safe fun location especially since we had our 7 year old sister. She enjoyed the swing/trampoline and making s’mores. We were only there for a day but so recommend it to those who use Hipcamp or want a unique experience.

We enjoyed the one night at Bens property. Was unfortunately a little more weed ridden in the campsite area then I would prefer but we had a great time. Kids loved exploring the property, picking fresh berries and the trampoline. Us adults loved the quiet and secluded area. Ben told us about a great little watering hole area for us to go enjoy the afternoon (directions could have been a tad better). Overall we would recommend Bens camp and would keep in mind if we were ever heading back this direction.

Ben's place was gorgeous. We had a lovely camping experience and woke up to the sound of so many birds, including woodpeckers on the tree nearby. The night sky was beautiful, the wildflowers gorgeous, and it really felt like a special retreat. It rained the morning we were there but the picnic table + umbrella helped us stay dry while getting our breakfast. Highly recommend!

Ben’s property was exactly what we were looking for. It was scenic, peaceful and great for stargazing. The campsite was thoughtfully laid out with leveled spot for a tent, fire pit and picnic table. We found a few great spots to swim and hike nearby. Definitely recommend!

The Shaded Walnut was so lovely, we had the best time! Ben was fabulous; we were able to pick strawberries (which were delicious!) and he told us about a swimming hole where we spent the day swimming. The camping spot itself was perfect… we will definitely be back!

This is a great place to stay. As there is only one site, you don’t have to worry about disturbing, or being bothered by, any other campers. We never did meet Ben, but one of the workers there was friendly and helpful enough. The outdoor shower was cool, but welcome since the days were quite hot when we were there. The pit toilet was a bit primitive, just a hole in the ground that you throw dirt in after doing your business. The water from the on-site well was cool, crisp and tasted wonderful. The campsite is on an organic farm and we were allowed to pick some of the crops that were ripe enough. We treated ourselves to a few different kinds of Cherry Tomatoes and some Strawberries and they were absolutely delicious! We saw quite a bit of wildlife while we were there. A couple of deer frolicking just outside the gardens, quite a few families of quail, and in the early morning hours, we even had a young mountain lion trot right by the campsite! The road is near enough that you can hear cars going by, but it’s not very busy at all so it was pretty much a non-issue. There was also a raised platform that you could get to through a gate and down a path that, once you climbed up the stairway/ladder had a terrific view down into a canyon and up the mountains on the other side.
All in all, had a great time and enjoyed how secluded the site was.
Already thinking about going back to this site.
