When you come to camp here you are on a working farm in transition. Girlfarm has been a local food go to for restaurants, farm family members, and regenerative agriculture interests. Today, the farm is looking forward to a new course in agritourism as we begin planning walking gardens, art installations in the landscape, and interactive classes. It was important to choose a partner like Hipcamp to invite like minded individuals who respect both the natural environment and the idea of less is more. At any time you may encounter farming activities, building out of tiny houses for future bookings, or gardens in the process of creation. As we move toward offering the land as a place to both find solitude or chosen participation our Flyte and Sparrow experience will hopefully be a place you will want to return to as your own tradition.

Wendy is a treasure and her property is gorgeous. If you’re looking for a very non institutional type rustic camping experience, this is for you. We loved our stay there.

Frankie's Pond
Frankie's Pond was non-existent when we were there recently. Recommend bringing a sunshade and lots of water since there's little to no shade from the sun.

This was a beautiful peaceful spot in a lush oasis. We saw dozens of night birds, beaver sign, and even a coyote. Wendy met us and drove us to the spot, with delicious spring water, firewood, and local information.

Beautiful sites, Smells, & Area
The sites at this farm are wonderful. It's a beautiful area, just down the road there are some amazing hikes, crystal peak is a place that all should see. It's far enough away you feel a true camping experience but really only a 30 minute drive to downtown Reno. The well water available is amazing and ice cold. The farm animals are very cute and pretty amusing. Wendy steals the show though, she is a great host. She has immense knowledge about the surrounding area, and animal you describe or noise you heard she seems to have a wealth of knowledge on. Their farm meal packages are fantastic and very fair priced. There isn't anything bad I could say about this place. The only thing I'd recommend is if staying in warmer months, pack some shade like canopies or some water misters. It is a hot climate after all. We will definitely be coming back, I'm so glad we stayed here and got to experience it. Hands down recommend it.

This was an excellent place to camp! It is close to the interstates and very easy to access if your road tripping on I-80, yet still quiet and tranquil. I heard frogs and barn owls all night from my site in the meadow. I would definitely stay here again and hopefully get to stay longer and explore the lovely property.

Farm Camping!
Wendy is an amazing host. The land is beautiful and getting to interact with all her animals was such a treat. We also bought one of her meat/vegetable packages to cook with while camping which was a true farm to table experience. We can’t wait to come back!

Great little secret hideaway by ponds for tent camping. Lots of frogs, birds and other animals made it seem like you were in the middle of wilderness. This is a working farm, and you can meet the goats and llama. Very close to Dog Valley for hiking in the woods. Wendy was a wonderful host - responsive, helpful and enjoyable to meet.

Private/beautiful for star gazing.
Wendy and her partner were friendly and welcoming. It was very pleasant talking with them. We had to park the car then stroll up to our site. The site was secluded and we enjoyed the privacy while camping under the stars. We would come back again.

Lovely place to camp
This was my second stay at Nite Heron Camp. I arrived in time to watch helicopters dipping into the nearby reservoir to extinguish a small brush fire. Wendy kept me appraised of the situation and it was indeed resolved by dusk. The site itself is full of night sounds and offered enough privacy from other sites. I can now say I’ve heard a bullfrog purr! As my dog and I took our last walk about of the evening, we met the llama and his flock of sheep. I’m already looking forward to my next stay.

What a beautiful place to stay outside of Reno! The chuggerum of bull frogs and the yipping of coyotes provided the background music for the evening. The pond site brought mosquitoes, so bring your bug spray. Reno nights can be cold, even in summer. Don’t forget your sleeping bag! Host Wendy is gregarious and I enjoyed morning tea and a chat. I look forward to staying again.

Wonderful stay quiet and away
The directions were great form Wendy our wonderful hostess. However, it can be tricky. Upon arriving at the guest call area we contacted Wendy our host. She arrived within minutes from letting her know we arrived at parking. Easy for any vehicle to drive and park. Wendy the took all our families gear by quad 4x4 to our site. No carrying heavy gear. Site was next to small wildlife area with water and cool beaver activity. Lots to see very quiet peaceful. Has fire pit, benches, wood, picnic tables and potable water tho it’s a 100yd walk as well to usable compatible outhouse. It’s kept beautiful by all carrying in and carrying everything out. There was no trash at all on site! Clean and people free. Wilderness to forestry land is very close. Are family had a great time. Although the teenage 16 yr old twins were pissed that there was no cell. Too bad kids. I recommend this books highly and want to thank our host Wendy

My Best HipCamp Stay Thus Far
Wendy was an awesome host with a very thoughtful approach to her space. I love the fact that I was on a functional and evolving organic farm and had a chance to have that experience with a gracious and receptive host. I can see that she has put work into making the experience memorable and offer more than just a lot to camp out of. Would definitely love to come back to this place some time!

First time camping at a farm!
The camp host greeted us upon arrival and was very friendly. She explained everything, answered all our questions, and even gave us extra info about the working farm. The farm is beautiful with ponds and has a resident Llama who was adorable and friendly! Our campsite was secluded and included a picnic table and fire ring with wood. We purchased the farm fresh eggs too! There's an outhouse with a little bit of a walk to get to. Our host encouraged us to explore the property and visit the animals. It was a wonderful experience!
