This mud house was a unique experience. The weather was perfect to sit in the soak tub and star gaze. The property was quiet with some scattered trails to explore. Day trips down to Borego to explore in 4x4 and hike to Eagle rock was close. The solar lights were maintained and the solar battery lasted the night with a movie at night. It was nice to have the strand lights combined with solar lights to give a warm feeling with just enough light to enjoy the outside on this trip. Inside stayed nice and warm all night. The bathroom was nice with instant hot water. Tip for warming the soak tub is to start the fire to warm it around 530 pm, leaving cover on, to get in around 9. Plenty of options for cooking outdoor, we chose gas grill. The first 20 feet up the driveway was steep with medium ruts so choose your correct line. This was my first off grid stay and this property made it accommodating.

This spot was really unique and beautiful. It is a cozy spot but it really does feel spacious. We loved the way nature is incorporated into the space. The wifi works great but you really feel like it is an unnecessary feature when you are so connected to the earth. The beds are comfortable, the appliances were great, and the land was beautiful. The pictures don't give the location justice you really do have to see it for yourself.
Lucas himself was a great host, he was a great communicator and very responsive when we had questions.
This is a perfect place for anyone passing through, looking to home, stargaze, it just get away for a few days.

The Earthbag Tiny House was such a unique experience for my family! We particularly liked the coziness of the tiny house itself, the interior design and Mexican theme were a surprise as we just returned from a trip to Mexico City. The space fit our family of 4 comfortably. The kitchen was well-stocked (pots/pans/cooking utensils/coffee, tea, spices/etc.), refrigerator (what you would find at a hotel) fit what we needed for 2 days, outdoor seating and tables were plentiful, and multiple areas to enjoy a campfire were definitely the highlights of this space. The bathroom/shower were right next door (shower gets HOT) with shampoo/body wash + towels provided as well.
One thing to note is that although it is off the beaten path, if you're looking for complete solitude (silence) for meditation, etc. you will be bothered by helicopters and airplanes flying overhead. Inside the tiny house, we didn't hear it so much, so we spent most of our time inside being cozy.
Also, the steep incline to enter the road leading to the property is quite a challenge if you do not have a 4x4 vehicle. We were driving a mini van, and it took a handful of attempts to finally get over the initial slope (please keep this in mind if you're traveling with a lot of people in the vehicle + gear). I had to ask my wife and kids to get out of the van in order to drive up.
Otherwise, you're in for a treat!

I absolutely love Lucas’s property & his laid back vibe/personality as a whole. The views are amazing, accommodations if needed there are no lack of. Perfect if traveling with animals, too! I first stayed here over a year ago, & have been back 3 times since. The peacefulness, wildlife(in a good way of course), combined with Lucas’s hospitality (If needed) is unsurpassed.
I know I’ll be back again, I recommend anyone in the area to check it out too!

This place is awesome!! It’s just the right amount of peaceful nature getaway with the essential amenities. I absolutely loved how dog friendly it was, especially the backyard being clear of anything sharp so my dogs could play without me worrying. The shower, grills, sink, and outdoor fire pit worked out great. It is June in the desert so temps were in the 90s/high 80s during the day. It cooled down at night + there is a ceiling fan but I would recommend bringing a little fan for the windows if you’re going on the summer. The house holds heat really well which I am sure is a huge pro in the winter but it can take a while to cool down inside if you go in the summer months. Really wasn’t too hot though, the ceiling fan helps a lot. Everything was VERY clean and Lucas even provided a clean bath towel, kitchen towel, toilet paper, paper towels, and a water jug! I would definitely recommend a vehicle with AWD or 4WD because the driveway is a bit steep and is not paved. Overall I had a great stay and already can’t wait to come back!

We had an amazing time here. My boyfriend and I are starting to get back into camping and this was the perfect first trip. The house had everything you’d need for a comfortable trip, without losing any of the nature feeling. We loved how secluded it felt- my reactive dog was able to be off leash for a little which is incredible for her! Lucas was extremely responsive and helpful, we greatly appreciated the fresh towels.

2nd stay at the earth bag was magical yet again! If you’re reading this review and thinking of booking this spot, then let this be your sign BOOK IT! It’s a glamp, so the rustic charm is expected and desired, but the feeling of luxury out in a rural community is the biggest bang for your buck! It’s truly an experience, I won’t spoil the surprise anymore. Bring lots of wood because you’ll love the fire place- bring comfy shoes and take a sunset walk! and once again.. best bed ever! The whole set up and curation of this hipcamp has really made us fall in love with Ranchita. I can’t wait for our 3rd stay 🫶🏕️ both trips have been last minute “send it’s” because this camp is so well stocked and prepped for you, food and essentials only. perfect retreat from the city

This stay was absolutely amazing! The place has everything you need, Lucas has all the details figured out and he was always so quick to respond to all of my questions (and I had a lot lol). The backyard is spacious and the BBQ was ready to use. We will be back 100%.
The dirt road to get up to the property was too rough for my car, but I was able to just park it there and walk to the house, so it was fine. The hot tub would probably be better to use during the day or when temperatures are not so cold. We tried to heat it up with 8 hr of fire and 5 boxes of firewood and it was just a little warm so we didn't end up using it. Hopefully next time!

Staying in the earthbag was just what we were looking for. We had enough creature comforts for our preparation/visit to feel easy, but we also enjoyed the peace and quiet of being in a simple earthen structure immersed in nature (compared to the city, anyway.)
Lucas was very attentive with our messages in case we needed assistance, yet we also felt that we had a good amount of privacy for our visit.

What a great spot for a quiet, dark and fun desert getaway. We loved the tiny house and its outdoor amenities. The hot tub is a fun addition and cooking dinner outside under the stars was magical. We slept so well in the comfy bed. The small space had everything we needed and we would love to come back.. I highly recommend Lucas’ place to anyone looking for a great and different place to stay near Anza Borrego SP.

This place is awesome! Lots of area to play games and hangout. We stayed cool using the hot tub as a pool since it was 98degrees, and traded out ice packs from the freezer often. Great views, so many small detailed touches and just an amazing spot!

Peaceful. Beautiful. Lots of wildlife. Feels remote but there are folks around so you don’t feel super alone. Host was very responsive to any questions I had.
Road is a bit rough so just keep that in mind.
