Great spot! Relatively easy to find and quiet yet close to town. We camped here and then headed down to the Russian River the next day and it was a perfect little trip.

$59.99 too much for the spot
If you are really, really, really, reeeaaaaaalllly desperate for a spot to park for the night this might do. The directions to get to the camp off of hip camp are poor at best. If you have dogs be carful as there is small pieces of broken glass everywhere. Also near the entrance to camp next to the road there is a turn around and when we pulled in there was a creeper parked there for about and hour and then 2 more cars park there and just sat in their car for an hour. When the sun goes down the place starts to look better because you can’t see all the rubble around in the dark. If you want to throw $60 away this is your spot.

Basic site, flat, no shade
Camp is basic, as stated; not a destination but reasonably close to lakes and mountain hiking. Was hard find on arrival late at night. James, unless you are in the witness protection program, you may want to consider some signage or more distinctive landmarks. It's a bit pricey for just a flat spot to park for the night.

African savannah retreat
Very quiet secluded area just as per the description. It reminded us of the African savannah, minus the predator (though the famous Safari West resort is not far away). It got very hot which was a welcome change from our foggy coastal home base - and not an issue since Putah creek offers a refreshing respite a few minutes away. Stargazing was a highlight and James was super helpful to make us feel welcome. Town amenities are minutes away including a grocery store, a children playground and county pool (which was closed due to covid though). All in all a wonderful experience.

Loved this site for our camper trailer! Very quiet and private, and just a short stroll away from Dry Creek where we dipped our toes in and did some bird-watching. We had a very relaxing time here. A great halfway-point between spots like Clearlake and Calistoga with lots of vineyards and wineries nearby. Would definitely stay again.
