The site was quiet and centralized. Good distance to the restrooms and swimming hole.
What a great experience! The site is right next to the river, easy access to bring our paddle board and for our dog to run in and out of the water.Tom stopped by and was SO friendly! He even came back the next day to teach us how to sift for gold. We will definitely be returning and had the best experience!! Highly recommend!!!

We can see why this spot has so many glowing reviews! Not only are the hosts super responsive and caring, but this property seriously feels like camping in the middle of nowhere. The ranch is huge and we barely saw anyone during our stay. If you want a relaxing stay along your own private river, book quickly!

Truly incredible campsite and river! We hiked, we paddled, we swam, we just enjoyed the beauty of the river. Bathrooms were kept very clean. Rachael and the camp hosts were so communicative, responsive, and welcoming! We can't wait to come back again :)

I have been camping more times than I can count in my life, but this place was amazing! We will be making this River Ranch our annual summer retreat. Our site was perfect and the river was beautiful and so refreshing. The host, Tom, came by to visit us our 1st day and we really enjoyed talking to him. The view is spectacular! I hate to share this place, but it is a must see for sure! Thank you so much for having us! We will see you again soon.
My gf and I visited here for our 5th year anniversary and basically had the entire area to ourselves. We reserved the stone cabin #2 and when we first pulled up we decided to walk down to the water first which was about a minute and we were absolutely blown away by how awesome the mountain range along side the river. We truly felt like we were in a movie walking along the waters edge.
I think this is my most favorite camp
spot I have ever been to!!! Incredible views, private, great swimming hole, and LOVED nighttime with the stars, river sound, and critters making noise. Would so come again!

This was my fourth trip to Cosumnes River Camp and it never disappoints! I hadn't stayed at Sawyers Bar yet, and it was a pleasant surprise. The sites are very well placed far enough from each other for some privacy, and there were plenty of Porto potties for all, which stayed pretty clean considering a busy holiday weekend. The water is crisp and clear, so refreshing! The only downside was that my dog barked at a skunk outside our tent at 4am and we got sprayed, but that’s nature for you! Tom, the manager, is always a delight. He had showed us how to pan for gold last trip so I asked him to show my new set of friends and he came back the next day for a demonstration. My friends were obsessed and found lots of small pieces of gold and garnets. Always a 10/10 experience at this HipCamp! I’m excited to try a new spot next time.
We’ve stayed at the Ranch is before and have always loved it. Site 13 has good water access and is super private and shady. The only downsides are the view of the river (and the old west movie set!) is blocked by vegetation and you can faintly hear the generator at the host’s house across the river running at night. Even then, we would still come back.
We absolutely loved it! The site was huge and plenty of privacy. Exactly how camping should be - gorgeous outdoors with minimal interruptions or public :) 10/10 recommend!

This is a rare spot where you can camp right next to a river with beautiful, flowing water amidst nature. Falling asleep to the sound of the murmuring river is incredibly relaxing. Our dog was enjoying swimming in the river. I also appreciated the host coming by to say hello. I would definitely love to visit again; there are various campsites here, so I’d like to try out different ones.
Soothing gentle sounds of river puts me to sleep quickly.. Site 21 is a long sandy section about 50 feet long by 12 feet wide bordering the river. The upper side is protected by a 15’ steep rocky bank for privacy and sound. There is partial tree cover for shade. A lower driveway can be used for turning around or parking. There is a dirt/sand ramp to directly access the river. The ramp leads. to the edge of a long 1000 ‘ pool or quiet section of water upstream . Below this are the rapids, so you have the best of both types of water. There is good privacy between camps in this section. It feels more secluded than the other sections of the ranch.
Note: we came here Sept 1- Sept 5 when water level was fairly low and slow.. maybe 1 -4 feet max at the deepest spots. I would not camp here with small kids or dogs early in the season when water flow could be swift and unpredictable. (February-May) The cabins or other sites are better suited for young families/ people with pets.
There are small nighttime squirrel-like mammals that will get into food or anything that smells like food if left outside at night or unattended during the day. We were able to tie our garbage in a bag onto a high tree branch to keep them away.
On the positive, I loved the cooler temperatures of September , the stars and peaceful stay during the week days.

Love camping here! Sites are big and spacious, landscape is beautiful, my 7 year old is occupied for hours along the sandy river bank, and the dog is worn out. Can’t beat it! Host is super helpful and kind. We go any time we can!

This is our second time camping here and it was just as amazing as our last visit. So peaceful to be by the river for the weekend and fall asleep to the sounds of the river. The site was huge and far away from other campsites. We will definitely be back again!
Great site! Really nice view, great hospitality! Just know no shade during the day, but otherwise a wonderful site!

Great time camping with the family as always. We can only stay for one night due to work schedule. Site 1 is great with lots of shade. The tree might be a little low so if u doing roof top camping be sure to position it where the branch’s won’t poke a hole in your tent. Walking distance to the swim hole and a great sandy area in your site to play on.

Loved this sight! Had shade, privacy and a lovely river entrance and area to float and swim. Super quiet when we were there, lots of stars and the river was bliss to listen to. Tom was so kind and eveb shared a ton of grapes with us that he grew.
Will totally return.

The river was awesome, gentle flow and easy to relax in. Perfect for adults and kids.
I maintain that the overlook sites are the best (14, 15 or 16). Loads of space, decent shade, privacy and the best swim hole, but don’t tell your friends! Exactly the vibe you want and only 2.5hrs from the East Bay - usually we have to travel 3hrs+ for a river this gorge and terrain this pretty! It is hot in the summer, but the river is cooling!

Great camping site, right next to river. It was my dog's first time camping and she loved it.
Van camping. THIS place checks all my boxes. Hiking, river access with great swimming, clean porta potties. Dog friendly.

Amazing spot off the grid. 3 miles down a dirt road to the river, peaceful with a few other sites nearby but not visible or within earshot. The hosts are friendly and responsive- highly recommend!
