The site was really nice walking distance to a river. It was quite and peaceful a really nice stay. We have a 22 ft travel trailer and it was a little rough getting in there the road is really bumpy up and down hills but was a nice trip

Fantastic! Beautiful setting. Very Clean. Well thought out campsites with flat ground for tents and intentionally undisturbed vegetation that creates shade and privacy. Porta potties were exceptionally clean and conveniently located. We will definitely be back to the Consumnes River Ranch!

This is the second year we camp here and, in a word, it’s breathtaking! The views are amazing, the campsites large and accommodating. Even the portable toilets are clean and comfortable. I’d highly recommend this spot to folks. In fact, I brought my best friend and sister and they’re already planning to bring friends and family.

Site 22 Turtle Rock
We are frequent guests and yet again amazed by Rachael and Tom and how wonderful and extremely accommodating they are!
For this visit we stayed at Turtle Rock 22 and great spot with ability to drive directly to the spot and private water access. Great shade in the afternoon and highly recommend :)

My family and I had a wonderful time on our first camping trip at Consumnes River Ranch! We stayed at the Overlook, which had ample space to accommodate our group. The view of the swimming area was breathtaking, and it was just a short 10-minute walk from camp. We definitely plan to return in the future!

The consumes river is beautiful and these camp sites are amazing to have access to the river right next to where you sleep. Beautiful star watching, easy check-in, and the sites are spaced pretty far from the each other so you feel secluded.

Site 17 - The Overlook
This site was a bit father from the river (a short walk down the hill) but the shade was appreciated in the late afternoon heat!! There are three neighboring sites, one of which is right across from 17, but we were lucky that it was unoccupied for our stay so it still felt pretty private. The nearby trail leads down to a gorgeous swimming area that’s shared with the other overlook sites. Highly recommend going down there at sunset for an incredible view. There’s another river access point down the road at Sawyer’s Bar. If you’re willing to brave the slippery rocks to cross the river you’ll be rewarded with some more private nooks. Overall, it was a very relaxing and beautiful place to visit. No cell service so you can really unplug. FYI for those bringing their pups, be prepared for ticks! We found a few on our dogs. Lots of tall grasses and shrubs around so it’s kind of unavoidable.

Private River Front Group Site
Views are beautiful. Large site and kids loved the water and its calm/safe. Still had young ones wear a life vest for safety. Respect the land and rules and they respect ur privacy. Loved it! Isolated to get away.

Site 5 - Sawyer's Bar
Really enjoyed this spot. The location is gorgeous and felt private amongst the other sites. The river is definitely the highlight—clear, refreshing, and great to hang out by and in. Directions were straightforward, no issues finding it. Would definitely stay again.

Loved , lovedddd our stay!
We started our stay on a Wednesday and it was like we had the whole place to ourselves , with just another campsite occupied that first night . it was perfect , it was like the whole river and little lakes were all ours .
We felt safe , we felt welcomed when tom came over to greet us about an hr after we got there , the porta potty was exceptionally clean ( loveddd that) .
our whole stay was just perfect !!
we cant wait to go back again !

This is like literally the perfect, archetypal camping experience. You know how you have this image of a perfect camping trip, but then the reality is usually you sitting in a tiny site, closer to loud people than you would be in your backyard?? This site is like the perfect trip you've always imagined in your head. The site is huge, with different spots for tent, table, little shaded spot next to the river and the main table area is literally on the river. The main site area has shaded spots all hours of the day. The other sites were so far away we never heard anyone else and only saw others once on the shared river area. Porta potty was clean and everything was well maintained. We woke up, hung out and explored the site until we got hot, went swimming (basically alone) in the river, got out to warm up and hang out/read more, then swam more and repeat.
The only negative thing I can say is the mosquitos were bad, but only after 7 pm and bug spray worked fine.
I am literally going online to book this site for a longer stay in the future.

Our favorite part of Summer! This is the third year we’ve rented the cabins to kick off summer and will continue. The private swimming hole is absolutely wonderful. Rachael and Tom were both responsive and helpful. We can’t wait for next year.

Site 7 - Rowan's Camp
Absolutely loved this campsite! Loved hanging out on the water all day and being able to explore the grounds with my hubby and son. The portable potty was super clean and only shared with one other site. We met one of the hosts, Tom, who was super friendly and gave us a map to explore more. We will definitely be back!

Campsite #3 at the Cosumnes River was purely magical. A massive oak tree anchored our site, offering generous shade over the picnic table and tents—a true blessing during sunny afternoons. Just 50 feet from the riverbank, we could hear the soft, gentle flow of the Cosumnes as we relaxed at camp.
The river itself was a highlight—perfect for swimming, lounging on the rocks, and a bit of catch-and-release fishing. We reeled in a few smallmouth bass, adding a little thrill to our laid-back weekend. It felt like we had the place to ourselves, as the other sites were spaced out enough to feel secluded and private.
This is a beautiful retreat for anyone looking to unwind in nature, away from the noise. We left feeling refreshed and grateful for the peaceful surroundings.
One downside: while the camp asks that you pack out your trash (which we respect), we really would’ve appreciated an on-site trash or recycling bin (at main entrance) especially after nights of camping. Hauling our garbage home for a 3.5-hour drive wasn’t ideal and took away a bit from the otherwise stress-free experience.
Still, I’d absolutely recommend this spot to nature lovers and anyone needing a true getaway.

This spot was awesome! My daughter had a blast in the river, I would say site 7 doesn’t have the most shade so be aware for animals. My 13 year old Chocolate lab had it rough but he held out. All in all great place and very clean!

Site 16 - The Overlook
Great place the camp with the kids. It gets hot during the day so u might want to take a walk down by the river and cool off there horses and cow by the front gate. Pretty cool to see.

This was an awesome camp site! Super private with a picnic table and drive-up parking, plus a private little path to the river that was literally a stone’s throw away. Also had a surprisingly clean and well stocked port-a-potty. The river access at the adjacent camp site had more of actual sandy beach that the other campers didn’t mind sharing. My 5 year old normally sleeps with a white noise machine but we didn’t even need it thanks to the white noise from the swift flowing American river only a few yards away.
The only downside was there were biting bugs. The herbal DDT-free insect repellent we brought did not work at all and the bites didn’t show up until the next day after we left. I’m guessing this time of year (June) they were biting midges/no-see-ums? Anyway not a knock on the camp site just a warning to have more effective insect repellent than we did.
The only odd thing about our camp site was that there were no campfire signs everywhere (makes sense given the fire risk this time of year), but our site had the remains of a clearly recent camp fire. We followed the rules though and just stuck to camp stoves. Would definitely camp here again.
