This particular property has been in the family for four generations now. It was in the past a producing walnut orchard that is now past its prime. The orchard is now home to a couple of horses and few wild turkeys. The property location is great for anyone traveling up or down Interstate 5 as we are located about two miles east of the interstate. The Sacramento River is five miles to the east and the Rolling Hills Casino is not too far away. The city of Chico is about 20 minutes away to the south and Lassen National Park and Shasta Lake are not too far north of the property. The site is perfectly located for numerous day long adventures. The site was a very, very private and beautiful setting next to a very old oak tree. The site had no amenities except a pretty old picnic table. But honestly for the price to be able to just take my little trailer and just pop inside and go to bed and feeling safe because I was on a property that was behind a locked gate., I couldn’t have asked for much more.

Peaceful area. There were three horses roaming when I was there, but they mostly kept to themselves. I can see what others meant about the road noise, but it's intermittent and never bothered me. The Pilot over on I5 has a convenient dump station and propane. Best local option for water is probably the Primo fill machines out front of stores in Corning. (Corning is a nice little town! Solid Mexican food, really nice Ace Hardware.) No issues with cell service.

This was just a stop over for us for sleep on the way down the 5. The field was dead/dry and full of stickers. Our dog took 3 steps and stopped, lifting her paws and refusing to move. The pull in is short so if you have anything larger than a small sprinter you will have to block traffic in order to get the gate open to get in. The picnic table is falling apart. Probably better than a truck stop overnight.

Comfortable, Picturesque Stopover

Corning Oaks
Corning Oaks was a great stopover along the 5. There are services nearby and it is easy and fast to get to. The host communicated well and told us all we needed to know for a smooth arrival. The land is lovely, surrounded by oaks. A picnic table and freshly mowed meadow was provided. The night was fantastically dark and the stars and moon put on a show.

It was a great break from busy state parks and all the activity that is included with them. It was an easy on / off to interstate 5 . Would be sure to stop again if I was in the area.

Relaxing and spacious

We had a great weekend. The space is nice and flat with plenty of room to navigate. Would definitely come back. Corning is a cute town with plenty of great Mexican food. We enjoyed our stay.

We selected Corning Oaks for a one night stop on our way home. The site is flat and off the road enough to be private. It was quiet at night, it’s a field with trees and lots of birds and there’s a picnic table. It’s easy to get to from I-5 and fuel & services are convenient, I’d stop again.

Great spot out in corning close enough to the highway, makes for a nice spot with shade. Still able to hear traffic so it's not 100% secluded but it's great nonetheless. Would stay again for the price.

Nice, private, easy spot right off the 5. Tucked back off a quiet road, very peaceful with the polite company of a few horses. I stayed here twice during my road trip-there and back. Would recommend!

This was a convenient stop on our trip down I 5. We loved our evening watching the horses graze and listening to the music of the many birds. It was a pleasure. We had a large private pasture to relax in. Thank you, Ben. It was great to meet you as well. Barb and Gregg

Great stopping point just 2 miles off I-5. Ben was super helpful, quickly responded to several questions prior to booking. Very secluded place, being behind a locked gate made us feel absolutely secure. Our dogs loved the green grass and room to run and fetch. Loved the new whimsical table and chairs, a very nice touch. Friendly horses across the field and a flock of turkeys roosting in the trees was a spectacular sight, completing a very nice stay. Large space, no problem getting our 23’ TT and truck (48’ LOA) into the place. ATT-2 bars, 5G. Absolutely will stop here again if we can. Ben, thanks for sharing your place with us.
