For one mike was a good host, he helped give us a layout of his property. And hook us up on a great spot right next to the water. The place is beautiful and relaxing and at night, you can hear every little creature and bug out there, which was awesome.

What an awesome spot! We found this the day of on Friday of Labor Day weekend. It’s full on creek access. Plenty of shade and the place is green (and end of summer) with black berries all around. Mike is an awesome host! We will be back!

We had the best time! The creek is so clear and beautiful, we spent most of the time swimming. It was perfect for kids. The play area was open, although the camp host did warn us about spiders and just to be cautions. Saw tons of turkeys and deers too which is always a huge plus. Definitely coming back!

Mike was friendly and informative, gave us great advice on a local fishing spot and swimming hole. The campsite was clean and location along the creek was very nice. My son was able to walk through the creek watching deer and that was his favorite part.

We were disappointed with the overall value of the site. It was just spaces along a creek, with no picnic tables or running water except back towards the front, out of a hose. Most of the sites were undesirable, but we got as far away from the street and the pile of debris at the front of the property. For the price, I would not recommend this location.

We enjoyed camping on Mike’s property! He showed us the available sites when we arrived; two were already taken. The sites have a good amount of space between them. We settled on site #4 (I think, none of them have numbers displayed).
We loved the easy accessibility to the creek. There was a place right near our site to jump into the deep swimming hole portion of the creek. The rest of the creek was very shallow. We used a SUP and some pool floatie rings and had a grand time. It was also blackberry season still, so we enjoyed picking and eating berries.
As someone else mentioned, there are no picnic tables or fire rings at each site. I’d recommend bringing a folding table and a propane fire pit (CA fire restrictions are often in effect during the summer, as they were during our stay).
Toilet is a port-a-potty. Playground was covered in spider webs, unfortunately. We spent the majority of our time in the water and it was so enjoyable!

We enjoyed using mikes land for a real rustic camp out. A very sweet, clean, useable creek that the kids absolutely loved jumping, swimming, and exploring. Mike met us and showed us to our campsite, he also referred us to an awesome swim area on the yuba river. The only restroom is a porta potty but it is camping after all! Excellent host and camp experience!

Mike was a fantastic host—friendly, welcoming, and full of fascinating knowledge about the history of his property and the town. The campsites were beautiful, spotless, and truly right on the water. The calm stream made for perfect swimming, and we had a blast floating up and down in our inflatable boat. It’s a peaceful, dog-friendly spot that makes for the perfect relaxing getaway!

We recently stayed at Camp Runamuck Hollow and had a genuinely enjoyable time overall. The highlight of the campground is definitely the river — calm, clean, and perfect for both young swimmers and adults looking to cool off or just relax. It added a peaceful and refreshing element to the entire stay.
The campsites themselves are fairly spacious and the general setting is quiet, even though the main road is visible from some of the sites. Thankfully, traffic noise wasn’t an issue at night, which made for a restful sleep under the stars.
However, there are a few areas where improvements could really elevate the experience. First, the campground currently operates on a first-come, first-served basis, and none of the sites are clearly numbered or designated. This made arrival and setup a bit confusing, especially during busier times. Having numbered or reserved sites would really help guests know exactly where they’re staying in advance.
Another thing to note: there are no picnic tables or fire rings at individual sites. It’s also not clear whether campfires are allowed on-site, which left us guessing a bit. Some better signage or communication around campfire rules would be helpful.
For families with kids, the playground is unfortunately not usable at the moment — it’s overgrown with weeds and entirely covered in spiders. It’s a shame because a little maintenance could make it a great play space for children.
All in all, Camp Runamuck Hollow is a solid spot for a relaxing

"Our recent stay was unfortunately quite disappointing due to significant discrepancies between the online description and the reality of the campsite.
The listing explicitly stated that campfires were allowed, which was a major factor in our booking. However, upon arrival, the owner informed us that campfires were, in fact, not permitted. This was a considerable letdown and impacted our planned activities.
Additionally, the description mentioned the availability of trash bins, yet there were none on site. This meant we had to pack out all of our garbage, which was an unexpected inconvenience and not something we were prepared for. There was also no picnic bench at our site, despite often being a standard amenity, and the photos suggesting one.
Finally, the restroom facilities were unfortunately very dirty, which made for an uncomfortable experience.
While we understand that issues can arise, the number of inaccuracies in the description made for a challenging and less enjoyable stay than anticipated. We hope these issues can be addressed for future campers."

Mike's campsite was wonderful! I went with a group of friends for July 4th weekend and we stayed at the campsite across the creek and loved it. So nice to hear the water from the tents. It wasn't too remote so we could easily get to grocery and convenience stores. Also, Mike was very helpful and welcoming and his son was a delight. Overall, a wonderful experience!

on a trip booked to beat the heat, we found Mike’s hidden gem and had one of the best trips we had as a family. just some 90’s kids camping with our kids like we did back in the day. Thanks Mike for the hospitality and otter pops for the boys to end a hot day. we’ll be back

We found Mike's camp by chance and couldn't have been happier. The description does not do the site justice. This is a hidden gem. Mike is an outstanding host. The perfect mix of helpful and gives you privacy. BEAUTIFUL site next to a cool creek with the sound of frogs to fall asleep to. Our only regret is that we were just passing though and we did not have more time to spend there. Thank you, we will be back for sure!!

Overall the campground was not maintained when we arrived, the camp host and his son must have came to our campsite 5 different times to check on us! The swing broke and asked us to use a bread knife in the middle of eating dinner! His son was playing amongst our campground ended up getting hurt lots of screaming, and crying for about 10 mins during dinner time! At one point walked around the back of our campsite without me knowing and where my dog was sleeping and scared her so she braked at him naturally yes it was little aggressively but did not try to bite , and he kicked her in the face!

Really great spot. Exactly what I was looking for, a spot to camp right next to a creek my kids could play in, with space for my dog to run around. One of these sites is the best for young kids to get in the water and splash around, so get there early if you want your pick. The only downside is this is fairly near a somewhat busy road.
Mike's a wonderful, easy going host and has a cool property and I would definitely stay again

Had a great time camping with a group over Memorial Day weekend. We had 6 adults, 1 child plus 3 dogs and Mike had us setup in the back meadow which was perfect as it was a large space and more secluded. The camp spots closer to the entrance have less privacy and you can really hear cars on the road so just be aware. There was a spot to have a fire but plan to bring your own tables, chairs, etc. Mike also had a port-a-potty on site, make sure to BYO TP though! Overall great spot to camp close to Yuba river access.

Pretty spot by a gorgeous creek, right off the road, some road noise, but convenience and features made it a great spot for kids. Creek was deep enough to be swimmable in spots, not too many bugs, tons of sweet frog sounds at night. Playground and swing on site, big communal campfire ring that Mike stocked with wood for a bonfire at night. Not sure if that was a regular event, or because occupancy was high over Memorial Day. No picnic tables at sites, can build your own fire ring at your site, but no preset fire pits (at least not at ours). Get there early to pick the best spot, more privacy farther back on the property. Spots are first come first served, but are all right by the creek. Mike was great and had some neat native artifacts that have been found on the property he was happy to tell us about.

It was an ok experience due to the spot we got and the amount of weeds and thorns in our surrounding area. It was difficult to find a flat area to set-up camp but we made due with what we had. Not every site has potable water as described. We did have lots of fun catching trout. Overall experience was a 6.5/10.

We had a great time Camping along the creek! Area is nice and shaded and the creek is perfect for relaxing in. We enjoyed the sounds of the birds and frogs at night. Mike kept the fire pit stocked and we enjoyed sitting around it each night. There was potable water and a bathroom just like mentioned in the details. We will return in the future!
