We have seven beautiful acres just outside of the small town of McKinleyville. Our wooded property is about a mile from Clam Beach and surrounded by idyllic horse ranches, sleepy country roads, and lazy cows grazing in the fog. The site is below towering fir trees draped with hanging lichen and full of bird song.

Come and relax in our forest. Take a leisurely bike ride around the country roads, fire up the charcoal grill, walk a mile down to the dunes at Clam Beach, or simply use our spot as your home base as you explore all that Northern Humboldt has to offer; Outdoor adventures, fresh seafood, craft beers and miles and miles of open country and fresh air.  Our property is rural and quiet, but we are not way out in the middle of nowhere.  At just over three miles from little McKinleyville it’s no big deal if you forget something or decide you’d rather go out for breakfast instead of cooking that oatmeal. Easy… safe… secure… kid friendly and peaceful.

Site 2 is a beautiful little spot under the Fir and Spruce trees. Private and peaceful. We have a custom built tiny cabin with a hot shower! The cabin is small but mighty and packs in a two burner cooktop, a sink with hot water, all the pots and pans you would need to cook a meal and even a mini fridge. Of course it also has electricity for lights and charging up the phone. The table can fold down to make a bed but the bed is SMALL.. only room for 1. Outside there is ample space for a tent or even two tents. We provide a picnic table and a chiminea and we usually have some free firewood piled up against the tree. The chemical toilet is just for this site and we work to keep it clean and fresh. At night you we can usually hear the ocean waves down at clam beach. You'll see the ravens coming and going in the treetops all afternoon. The neighbor's horses are just across the private road doing their thing. We're proud of our little spot and think the tiny cabin is just right to provide that extra comfort if you are looking to camp later in the Fall or early in the spring when that hot water and dry, indoor space will feel just right. This camp site is perfect for a quick stop along a journey. The platform for the tent was great, the bathroom available was super convenient! The directions to get there were very clear. The only thing to note would be it is near an airport and we heard airplanes/helicopters periodically.

Quiet and cozy little camping spot close to Clam Beach and Redwoods. Bathroom was very clean and well lit. The hanging lights outside were a nice touch. We enjoyed our stay.

The campsite was so cozy and having the personal bathroom was a nice touch. It also helped having the platform for our tent as well. And the firing up the fire pit was such a nice experience.

private site, great as a basecamp to explore beaches and redwoods. Bo sent great tips for hikes and local places to try. Nice level area for tent, private bathroom and a fire pit and grill present. Nice picnic table and plenty of space. Would definitely come back!

It was wonderful to come back to camp and be able to cook a meal indoors (in the rv) and have a hot shower. The camp was peaceful and ideal for our family. The location was perfect! It was a short drive to the redwoods, the beach, fishing, hiking trails and local restaurants as well. And Bo responded promptly to questions via the website.

If you are tent camping I think this would be pretty nice. The vibe with the lights and fire pit are cool. We were truck camping and it’s right in the road and driveway of the owners home.

Excellent spot. Clear directions, easy to find and immediately off the highway (we couldn’t hear traffic though). Short, helpful greeting from host, who offered an easy parking accommodation for our difficult to maneuver rig. Nice little touches like an extension cord for whatever might need power, like charging devices. Beautiful surroundings. Misty and atmospheric. Lots of animal activity, which we thought was a major plus; soundtrack included elk, horses, dogs, crows, woodpeckers, various birds. Otherwise very quiet (no helicopters as mentioned in another review). A critter of some sort (maybe a nurtria or raccoon was curious about our tent) and woke us up, but we found that charming and fun. It’s camping, after all. Zero complaints. Would stay again. Loved morning visits from the iconic banana slugs.

Bo was very friendly, came and greeted us, asked if there was anything he could help us with, taught us the trick with the shower. It was very peaceful, we were able to have s’mores, and a relaxing night, also…cleanest porta potty I’ve ever come across!

Bo’s camp is amazing! In a perfect spot if you want to visit the state parks up north or go down to Arcata for a night out. Super close to Mckinleyville too in case you need to go to the store for anything or to get gas. The site was super spacious, very well kept, set up nicely. Loved that there were basic amenities like a toilet, water, and light!

As others have said, the site is awesome, and Katherine and Bo are terrific hosts. Flat spot for the tent and a cozy trailer with all the things you need. We loved hearing many different birds, the wind in the trees, and the ocean when it was still at night. Lots of nice touches were appreciated- a Weber, water inside the trailer and out, a sweet chiminea with some wood and even starter, a line for drying clothes in the sun. Wood chips on the ground made for a comfy tent site, and the Adirondack chairs and picnic table were perfect for hanging out. The amenities in the trailer were unexpected- a small fridge! Instant espresso and a drip coffee maker! A little space heater! WiFi! Power for charging all the things! Best was Bo’s local beta about hikes and things to do in the area. Thanks again, B&K!

A convenient stop over on our way south, the hosts were friendly, but communication could be improved. When I texted and called them about quiet hours due to their teenagers having a party, they never responded. I had to get out of the tent and walk over to the house myself in order to address the noise. The teens were gracious and went inside. The outhouse could also have used a service before our visits. The kitchen space was helpful.

Bo’s place was perfect! As tent campers, we found it had plenty of thoughtful accommodations. The market lights were a great touch, no need for flashlights. The porch platform made for a very comfortable sleep, keeping us off the ground. The outhouse was clean and even had an outlet for charging our phones, which was a convenient bonus. Overall, it was an easy and enjoyable camping experience. The surroundings were beautiful-the birds, trees, and even the banana slugs were a delight for our son to observe. We stayed here to explore the southern part of the Redwoods, and the location was ideal and about 30 minutes from Prairie Creek. Bo’s family was peaceful and respectful of our privacy. It’s a truly beautiful place, and we hope to return one day.

We had a great time in this special spot! The lights were super helpful and the deck made setting up the tent easy and comfortable. We loved the animals and the lush green spa w that felt super private, and had everything we needed. We’d love to come back.

Great spot with everything you need! Cool lights, fire pit, grill and picnic setup. We camped in our sprinter van and were able to find level ground in the parking area for huckleberry. Comfortable restroom. Great proximity to the coast and enjoyed a the farm animals hanging out nearby! Definitely recommend!
