The recreation opportunities in the Alturas CA area are endless, fishing, hiking biking, hunting, boating and OHV. The camping site has nearly 3 acres with a view of the town of Alturas and is a great place to kick back and enjoy the atmosphere of fresh air and juniper trees. There are flat usable campsites around the property and one portion of the property is fenced for horses (bring your own water trough). The property is approximately 3 minutes from downtown Alturas with restaurants and stores. The sleepy town is a perfect place to hang out and relax at the big park in town behind the VFW Hall on Main Street, have refreshments at the two bars in town or try your luck at the Desert Rose Casino. The Wildlife Refuge has a self driving tour where you can see all kinds of birds and wildlife. Take a drive outside town to the "Ranches" to see deer, antelope, eagles and various waterfowl! Alturas is a high desert area with wonderful views of the Warner Mountains and has an enchanting feel to it. Temperatures in the summer rarely get over 100 degrees, mostly low 90's, and in the fall the cool nights make for great sleeping. Pop over Cedar Pass to Cedarville which is about 20 minutes away to check out the newly designated "Dark Sky" area. Come up and hang out in this very cool and special place, you will not want to leave!!  The town of Alturas is also in the coveted X hunting zones, X3a, X3b and X2, for those of you who like to hunt. Two sites have full hook ups and the small trailer site on the above pad (see trailer picture) has electric only.  During the winter, the pump house is turned off and drained due to freezing temperatures and the risk of blowing a pipe, so campers must bring their own water during November through March.  Please ask if there are changes in these dates for the water hook ups.The recreation opportunities in the Alturas CA area are endless, fishing, hiking biking, hunting, boating and OHV. Very private, large site. Host is very kind and helpful! There are several barky dogs in the neighborhood that woke me up a few times but otherwise a perfect camping experience.

The property sits above the town and is peaceful and serene. Stacie is super responsive and helpful, the recommendation for the Basque restaurant in town was great! Loved it!

A beautiful, quiet, welcoming, and well loved retreat with great wonderful landscaping. Great communication with the host. Woke up with 4 deer investigating us while we made breakfast. 10/10 would recommend for anyone looking for a private camp space. Looking forward to staying again in a couple weeks!!

Nice views. Full electrical hook ups and water. Great to be there by ourselves but no privacy between sites. Would be a fun spot for a group.

We camped at Stacie's property to view the eclipse and it was no less than perfect! There was one other RV there but they were gone most of the time and very friendly when there. Access to the sites is easy and directions were perfect. Stacie was super communicative with any questions I had and provided lots of suggestions for local activities. The property was private no houses very close. Lots of seating set up on the property. The roosters were a hoot and the goats next door, adorable. Hookups worked, but make sure to have a water regulator because the pressure is amazing!

I stayed at Camp Freedom in my Class A motorhome for about a week. The view was amazing, great privacy, quiet and peaceful. Stacy was very accommodating and easy to deal with, and she really went the extra mile to make my stay a good one.

Perfect spot for a few nights. My wife and I brought our 2 dogs and they had a ton of space to run around. We were just passing through on a long trip and Stacie’s land was exactly what we were looking for. Stacie was very friendly and had great recommendations!

Nestled in what looked like at first a neighborhood development, I pulled in past the gate and it was a beautiful little plot of land with privacy and a wonderful view. Only stayed the night on my way through but the RV plugs (both 15-50 and 15-30) juiced up my EV through the night.

While tucked away in the hills of Alturas, the access to the property was very convenient. Once on the property, your site would be situated to observe the city lights from your patio view. A very concealed camping spot.

We had a great time on our stay at Camp Freedom, with full amenities for our campervan! Stacie gave us great info and made us feel very welcome before we even arrived. The atmosphere was idyllic, with lots of privacy and space to roam, rest, and enjoy the view. The dogs loved it too. We'll definitely be back!

If you’re looking for an eastern sierra park like setting, without the crowds and with full hookups (30 amp service, tasty well water, sewer), look no further. Quiet, super serene location with view of nearby Alturas and deer running through the otherwise vacant (no home) property. Stacie is a super communicator, location is easy to find. Need more of these in Hipcamp!

Camp Freedom (Full Hook Ups)
A night at Camp Freedom was a perfect start for our trek to the northern Western states. Stacie was a great host, helping us with hook-up challenges and making us feel welcome and cared for on her "spread". We enjoyed a long stroll around the immediate neighborhood at sunset and dinner in town at The Brass Rail/Basque Restaurant, a real throwback to the 1970's in almost every respect (except price, of course).
