Walid was incredible from the start. He sent videos of the full space, and gave us great directions on how to get there. The campsite is unbelievable. An incredible piece of land to enjoy nature and the chill weather with friends and fam.

The place was perfect for the families and kids we had there. They kids got a kick out of exploring the area. The weather couldn't be better. Plenty of great tent sites. The bathroom was clean. The owner was extremely communicative and gave us some great tips in the area. We were very happy!

Amazing property. Love the privacy and open space to roam. Great views at the ridge. More than enough room for our party of 20+. Host was super responsive and helped in any way he can. I would definitely recommend this site.

Loved this site! The magic of it was how private and secluded it felt. The amenities such as tent rentals and table rentals definitely made our lives easier since we didn’t have to haul as many items into the site ourselves. Walid was also very communicative and accommodating.

Almost perfect. This is an amazing site -- big enough for 100 people! We only had 9 and used a tiny part of the site. There is no running water (we knew that). The drive only took about 2.5 hours from the south bay. There is nice shade and the canyon feels secluded and remote. The only downside is that you can hear the traffic on the highway. Not loud, but breaks the illusion of being in the wild. We camped next to the picnic tables and the RV. Perhaps if we kept driving deeper into the canyon the would be no noise. The porta potty was nice and clean. There were two hammocks setup. The host was very helpful and responsive. He recommended an excellent hike with just a 5 min drive.

Gorgeous property. So secluded. Perfect for a group camping trip. Great hiking trial in the back of the property if you look to the right up the hill when you get to the end of the path. We had dogs up there and they got to roam free - such a blast. Host was very responsive and directions were clear. RV and tent are awesome.

We loved the entire property set up. It was a good mix between dispersed camping and having comfortable amenities. The porta-potty was super clean and having the RV as an option to sleep in or for storage was very convenient. Also the hammocks and solar powered lights made for a super cute camping ambiance. Camp Durrwood was incredible, and the host, Walid, went above and beyond to make sure our stay was nothing short of amazing. The campsite is perfect for large groups with its ample space for multiple tents and parking. It felt very private and secluded - deep into the woods with no neighbors or other campers for what felt like miles. There is no running water or flush toilets, but the portable toilet on site was the cleanest one I have ever been in. Walid is very easy to communicate with, and he blew my expectations away with his hospitality and just how well prepared the site was for our visit. This was one of the best camping experiences I ever had. I would definitely book again. Thank you Walid!

We had such a lovely time at Camp Durrwood. First, Walid was the most responsive host and answered all of my questions and even blocked 4th of July week for us while I got my crew together. He was there to meet us when we arrived and showed us around making sure we were comfortable. The site is secluded with National Forest land surrounding it. We had some great hikes, visited Jenks lake and the nearby streams. The best part is we were free to relax, recharge and enjoy the forest. This spot is truly a gem. Can’t wait to visit again.

Great site for any size group, really. Nice central spot to hangout after dark, under the lights or the stars, and heading deeper into the property moves you out of earshot from the road. Very peaceful, very quiet.

Walid is awesome, very helpful and responsive. Love the site and is well kept. Has 3 table benches for use, fire ring, and RV you can sleep in if you want to. The site is huge and can do a lot of exploring. Definitely recommended

Our group had a wonderful camping experience at Durwood. We had a whole 20 acres of land to ourselves, we cooked, we laughed, we went for a hike and most of all, we relaxed and got to spend some fun time with our doggies in this private campground. Walid is such a wonderful host and prompt to answer all our questions and provided us with everything that we need for a comfortable and peaceful camping. I highly recommend staying at the campground and would definitely come back here again in the near future.

My men’s church group recently had the pleasure of spending a weekend at Camp Durrwood, and it was an experience that deeply touched each of us. The rustic charm and untouched natural beauty of this campground provided the perfect environment for reflection, bonding, and personal growth.
The dispersed camping sites were not designated so you got to choose your own site, which was a cool aspect of Camp Durrwood. The simplicity of the setup, with just the basics, encouraged us to focus on the essentials and truly appreciate the natural surroundings. The lack of modern amenities like electricity and running water was a welcome change that fostered a deeper connection with nature and each other. Most of our group have never camped before so this was a perfect first time experience that we will never forget.
Camp Durrwood was well maintained, 3 picnic tables, a clean porta potty and some string lights for some beauty night ambiance. And having the RV was a nice place to store some stuff and a couple people called it home for the night. Jenks Lake ($5 cash parking) was another great time that is only 10 minutes away. There is fishing, kayaking, no swimming, and tons of picnic tables for a nice bbq lunch.
Camp Durrwood is private, secluded, and just awesome, I highly recommend.

Camp Durrwood is an amazing place and you can rest assured that you will have an incredible stay at Walid’s camp! We were concerned that the weather might be too severe to tent camp, but Walid was super communicative and gave regular updates on the local climatic conditions so we left home confident that we’d be good to go. The land itself is gorgeous - from the tall pine trees to the snow-capped mountains, the scenery is spectacular. The property features the single cleanest and well-stocked porta-John I have ever seen. I cannot recommend this stay highly enough and I can’t believe that you haven’t booked it yet!

Our time at Camp Durrwood was truly exceptional! Tucked away in seclusion
yet conveniently located off Highway 38, it offered the perfect blend of privacy
and accessibility. Walid, our host, was incredibly accommodating and
provided invaluable insights about the area and nearby attractions.
While the campsite itself didn't have many designated spots, the vast expanse
of land allowed for dispersed camping, giving us ample freedom to choose our
perfect spot. The presence of three picnic tables and a cozy RV for relaxation,
along with charming touches like hammocks and string lights, added to the
charm of the place. Not to mention the distinctive entry sign, which added a
unique touch to our experience.
For those hesitant about fully embracing nature's call, the availability of a
porta-potty on-site was a welcome convenience. Whether you're camping solo
or with a group, Camp Durrwood offers something for everyone – be it a
serene retreat or a lively outdoor adventure.
We also took advantage of its proximity to Big Bear, just a scenic 25-minute
drive along Highway 38. The stunning drive itself was worth the trip!
In conclusion, I wholeheartedly recommend Camp Durrwood and look forward
to returning for another unforgettable experience!

I booked Camp Durrwood for a weekend getaway with friends, planning to enjoy football in the mountains during the playoffs. Before finalizing the booking, I reached out to Walid to inquire about Wi-Fi or cell service. He informed me that the service could be spotty and might not be suitable for streaming games. However, he shared that he often enjoys football in the mountains with friends and will share how to make it work.
Walid was accommodating and allowed us to check in early in the morning, giving us ample time to set up. Upon arrival, Walid personally met us at the campsite and assisted with the setup. He even provided extra gas for the generator and an extra-long extension cord to minimize noise disruption. The setup worked out perfectly!
Camp Durrwood was conveniently located right off the highway but offered a secluded and private atmosphere. We had the entire pristine forest to ourselves, and the picnic tables and string lights added a nice touch. The campsite featured a clean porta potty for our group to use, and there was plenty of parking space. Additionally, there were multiple spots for pitching tents, and the good areas for truck tents were perfect for the two in our group.
The privacy and seclusion at Camp Durrwood surpassed any other campground I've visited. Walid did an excellent job with the amenities, maintaining a rustic feel. I highly recommend Camp Durrwood, especially for groups and families. I'm already looking forward to bringing my family back!!

I definitely recommend this campground! It is a huge private area where your company will feel camp spirit right away! We had such a great time! This campground is amazing, it’s so beautifully wild!
Another thanks to The Host! He was so thoughtful and left art kits for kids, hammocks and other activity games!
Some practical facts: the toilet is in the RV parked at the property, the tap water is somewhat available in 3 barrels, 25 min to Big Bear City.
If you are looking for some wilderness experience this would be the best choice!

Walid is such a great host and the campsite is amazing! There is really lovely landscape to be in and a central campground area where everyone can get together. The space is huge and so much is around for discovery. I highly recommend this spot!
