Earn this patch by being the first to spend a night outside at a new Hipcamp.

Welcome to Butte Creek Canyon, a sweet mix of ecological beauty, outdoor adventure, and tubing down Butte Creek! We're on 5 acres nestled among old oak trees, with trails connected to a ridge above us offering 360-degree views of the canyon. Enjoy Adirondack chairs, a hammock, a picnic table, and a private trail to La Grotte du Sacré-Cœur cave. There's nowhere to camp along the creek or anywhere else in the canyon, which is why we want to open up our property and make this special place more accessible to everyone. ;) Our two campsites sit beneath the shady canopy of trees. You'll have access to a trampoline and a big swing for the kid in all of us. There's also a fire ring surrounded by redwood trees, perfect for drinks and storytime (fires are not permitted during the summer and fall). Wildlife is abundant here, including deer (both family and bachelor herds), flocks of turkey and pheasant, foxes, and the occasional black bear (who are very sweet and timid). You can see the main home in the distance through the trees, but both campsites feel private. Our property is set up like an adventure camp, so feel free to explore and enjoy yourselves. I'll deliver a 5-gallon jug of fresh well water to your site at check-in. If you're staying at Rondelet and no one is camping at Moonbeam, feel free to walk up and enjoy the fire pit, roast marshmallows, and relax by the flames. We have dark skies with lots of stars at night. There's a swimming hole at the creek under the bridge at Centerville (½ mile up the road from our place). We have 6 inner tubes you can borrow. Let me know, and I'll place them at your site. Have fun and enjoy the peace and quiet. Knock on our door anytime with a question, or simply come and go at your own pace. All the best, Eric

Moonbeam

Moonbeam is up on a flat cut next to our Airstream (Being refurbished). It has a fire pit and two cushy patio chairs along with lots of flat space to spread out. Access is up a short, but fairly steep dirt driveway, so 4WD is preferred although not needed. You can back up the driveway to make pulling out easier. The main house is visible at the far end of the cut, but it sits behind two palm trees and landscaping. You're in your own shaded world under the canopy of old growth oaks. You have access to a fire ring (No campfires until the fire ban lifts in November) at the other end of the cut. It's a great place to hangout, have a drink and tell stories. Please wander the property, enjoy the trampoline, big swing behind the house and head up the trails that lead to the ridge and cave at the top of the canyon.

Rondelet

Rondelet is at the base of our property under the shade of oaks and a massive pine tree. As with both of our campsites you can see the main house up the hill in the distance, but you're removed enough to feel private and self contained. If no one is camping at Moonbeam (Our other campsite) feel free to use the gas fire pit and chairs. You also have access to a fire ring (No campfires until the fire ban lifts in November). It's a great place to hangout, have a drink and tell stories. Please wander the property, enjoy the trampoline, big swing behind the house and head up the trails that lead to the ridge and cave at the top of the canyon.
