We are a 4-generation family-owned and operated working farm, and have lived here since 1976. We are proud growers for Diamond Walnuts, and also have a busy Farm Stand with walnuts and produce, over 500 Christmas Trees, and a small event venue for rent. We love our farm and are happy to open our walnut grove to you and share the bounty and beauty that we have called home for over four decades. Ballard is 2 miles from Solvang, Los Olivos, and Santa Ynez. Our Walnut Grove is nestled in the village of Ballard and in the heart of the Santa Ynez Valley. Walking distance to two Tasting Rooms (Rideau & Lincourt), a Bakery (Bob's Well Bread), and a Fine-Dining Restaurant (Ballard Inn). Note that the trees lose their leaves in the winter and will leaf-out in late May. We offer 2 sites the Grove: one that accommodates larger RV's with up to 6 people (called "Diamond" - which has a larger area with soft solar lighting, picnic table, fire pit, corn hole, cozy bench for two, complimentary bundle of wood and a tasty treat. (This site also accommodates two RV's -just "add on" in Extras for each night of their stay.) The other smaller space (called "Chandler") is designed for a single RV or conversion van. Sprinkled with lighting, we include a picnic table, campfire pit with 3-4 pieces of split wood (you can add-on additional bundle for $10), Weber BBQ, bistro table and romantic bench swing. We include a treat for both our guests and their doggies. The two sites are 200 yards apart (that's two football fields) assuring your privacy. Please note in your request what you will be traveling in (RV, Trailer, Sprinter, etc). (** Please note that because we are a food-producing farm, we are only allowed to accept fully self-contained units (with built-in water and waste water tanks - sorry, no portable toilets ). No tents unless they are accompanying a self contained RV).

This site is called our "Diamond" site, as we have sold our walnuts to Diamond nuts since 1976. Stay in a lovely, private walnut grove nestled in the village of Ballard and in the heart of the Santa Ynez Valley. Walking distance to two Tasting Rooms (Lincourt and Rideau), and the popular breakfast/lunch spot, Bob's Well Bread. This larger site is perfect for RV's and Trailers (site can accommodate two trailers - just "add on" in the Extras section for each night of their stay) Pull in to a designated area among the trees and enjoy. This site is affectionately called "Chandler", named after the variety of walnuts that we grow.  Designed for smaller trailers and RV's (25' or smaller) Back your self-contained RV, Conversion Van, or Trailer into a secluded site in our 20 acre walnut grove. We are nestled in the village of Ballard and in the heart of the Santa Ynez Valley. Walking distance to two Tasting Rooms (Lincourt and Rideau), and the popular breakfast/lunch spot, "Bob's Well Bread. The site includes a bistro table, Weber BBQ, wooden picnic table, fire pit with 3-4 pieces of seasoned firewood (add-on additional bundles available for $10), and bench-swing, all surrounded by lovely lighting. We also include a small bag of our delicious Shelled Chandler Walnuts . This is for self-contained units that will back-in, as there is not room to turn around. * Note that the trees lose their leaves in the winter and will leaf-out in late May. What a special campsite! We had an amazing time at Mike & Anne's walnut grove. The site was flat, there was a firepit stocked with wood, a lovely porch swing, and when it got dark, we got to enjoy the lights strung up around on the site. The walnuts are delicious too! If you visit, be sure to walk over to the winery next door for a tasting too - We brought a bottle back to the campsite to enjoy under the stars.

This exceeded our expectations. Staying in a walnut orchard surrounded by vineyards was surreal. So quiet and peaceful. This will be a return trip for sure. Anne was a gracious hostess and welcomed us as well as provided recommendations. We are lucky to not live so far as we will def. rebook. Just what we needed.

Very thoughtfully set up. Site was also very quiet and we loved that it was so close to wineries etc. Mike came by and was very welcoming and the walnuts were a nice treat with our morning yogurt. Would definitely recommend.

The site was very level and clean and in a beautiful walnut Grove. the hosts provided a fire pit and firewood in addition to a picnic table and some easy easy chairs and a game of cornhole. Thank you to the hosts for the yummy walnuts. The house gave us some good recommendations for local eateries and sites. This was a very quiet site with only one other campervan. Would definitely recommend and stay here again.

We love the privacy and beauty of the grove. Our second time staying there and we love it. So close to everything. We went to waterfalls, a swim in the ocean and dinner in downtown Salvang all within minutes from the site. We will be back again.

We have returned to camp here more than any other hipcamp spot. It is a unique experience. Mike and Anne are great! The walnut "treats" are always great. Stay here. You will not be disappointed.

My wife and I really enjoyed our 3 days spent camping at Mike and Anne’s peaceful walnut grove. They have really done a nice job in providing everything you need to enjoy their sites. We always bring our own chairs and portable table and solo stove, but didn’t have to break out any of these items as everything was provided by our hosts. The site was clean and private, and very quiet and peaceful. We hope to visit again soon!

I loved staying at Ballard farms with my family. The site is beautiful, quiet, and the perfect location for all of the sites in the valley. The hosts were amazing and thoughtful, we only wish we could have met them. They tried to meet us, but we were busy sightseeing. We hope to stay there again.

Mike and Anne were great hosts, they were very responsive and greeted us upon check in to make sure we had everything we needed. The campsite was amazing, there is a fire pit, picnic table, swing and bbq grill. You are surrounded by walnut trees, and it feels like you have the whole place to yourself. The location is also great because you feel secluded but are also close to town. The sourdough bread and walnut chocolate chip cookies that you can buy from Mike and Anne were delicious. We will be back!

We were so excited to spend the weekend at Mike and Anne's. And, it was amazing. Anne came over shortly after we got there and greeted us with a bag full of goodies. The property is amazing. Beautifully located and super convenient. We had a spectacular weekend weather-wise as well and a full moon at night. Before leaving, we walked over to a bakery/coffee shop and the grandkids came back with a bunch of carrots from Mike and Anne's garden and were beyond excited. Thank you for making this a memorable experience. We will be back. We can highly recommend it.

Our first overnight stop was in Solvang, California, at Ballard Walnut Grove, a beautiful and peaceful spot. We were greeted with delicious shelled walnuts and dog treats. The wonderful host and owner, Mike, came by to say hello and check if we needed anything. We ordered a sourdough loaf that his wife, Anne, had baked fresh that morning. We highly recommend staying with Ballard Walnut Grove.

Another incredible weekend at the farm! Mike was attentive and kind making our stay comfortable. The grounds are gorgeous and the quick walk to the wineries doesn’t hurt. The kids loved the trip and we can’t wait to be back!

Great spot, nicely set up for a short stay. Very quiet while we were there. The other campers were quite far away, we hardly noticed they were there. The walnuts were delicious, definitely recommend the sweet & spicy ones.

When we first arrived, we were amazed how beautiful our site was set up. We had a swing, BBQ, chairs, BBQ Pitt and chopped wood waiting for us! We were then greeted by Ballard Grove owner Mike, who surprised us with a bag of spiced walnuts, and a treat for our pup. He told us about the area, and had an information sheet of where to go, what to do, etc. Downtown Solvang was just a few blocks away. We absolutely loved our 2 night stay and can’t wait to be back. Highly recommended if you crave peace, quiet and stunning sunsets. Thank you for having us!

This is our third time visiting the walnut grove. Lovely space that is level. Picnic table, comfy chairs and a BBQ. Oh, and don't forget the twinkly lights. Central to three wineries and a short drive into Los Olivos. Definitely recommend.

2nd time stay- it won't be the last

We felt just as at home here the 2nd time as we did the first. Mike and Anne are as nice as can be and they take so much pride in their property and their hipcamp sites. So many nice touches and amenities, saving us from needing to pack things lime a table and camp chairs. They even have cute little twinkle lights that come on at dark. My favorite touch of all is that the whole campsite is covered with bark, which helps keep your feet so much cleaner than dirt. Kept our dogs cleaner too! Highly recommend! Great location nestled between some great wineries that are walking distance. Thanks again Mike and Anne! See you soon!

We just got home from our second stay at Ballard Walnut Grove and we’re already talking about when to go back. The sites are meticulously maintained, the and the grounds are beautiful and serene. It’s in code proximity to local wineries, shops, and restaurants. The owners are very friendly and even gifted us some complimentary walnuts (best walnuts ever!!!). I highly recommend booking!

It was exactly what we were looking for. On our way through the area and this seemed like a fun spot to stop at. Mike came by and chatted with us for a bit about the cool history of their trees and the area. Super nice hosts and a neat spot to camp especially when the stars came out and the twinkle lights came on. Literally wineries next door and across the street. Quick drive into Solvang. Exceptional Host & Delightful Grove

Just enjoyed our 2nd stay at the Chandler spot with our teens & dogs. Though our visit was brief for a nearby event, we couldn't ask for a kinder host, more tranquil surroundings, nor would we want to stay anywhere else and miss out on Anne's deeelicious warm, fresh baked sourdough, cookies and candied walnuts! It's so nice walking the grove of walnut and pine trees and checking out the offerings at their stand. Top notch accommodations and host with thoughtful personal touches including info about local amenities if needed. Will definitely continue to return.

This may be our favorite! It’s absolutely wonderful with some pretty sweet amenities and nestled between Los Olivos and Solvang and a couple of wineries too. Mike and Anne are great host and their farm is a little slice of heaven. It was just my husband and I and our two little dogs. I hope we get to go again and again! Great walnuts, delicious sourdough and some of the best walnut and chocolate chip cookies I’ve ever had, and I’m old! Very romantic. Lots of stars! Go to there!
