Our ranch, Alpaca on the Rocks, is 5 acres, located near the small town of Weed in northernmost California. We have 10 alpaca along with mini-donkeys and horses, a mini-mule, assorted cats and dogs, Icelandic sheep, and Kune Kune pigs. This is quite a place: There are the sounds - the odd mutterings of the alpaca, the constant hooting of doves, the off and on braying of donkeys. There are the sights of the country life that surrounds us, the cattle and sheep of the ranch behind us, and the horses grazing in the meadow across the road. And a final and impossible to miss addition to the sights and sounds for you to take home - the solitary 14,179 foot Mount Shasta presiding calmly over its domain.

J's Cabin

The directions were clear, the bed was clean and well-made. It smelled nice, and I enjoyed the little treats and decorations. Nancy was very kind. I got jump-scared by some animals a few times, but everything else went smoothly.

Lovely spot with friendly folks, alpacas, tiny horses, dogs, and at least one cat. We loved it!

Great place with great people

This place is truly a hidden gem with some good amazing people running it. The animals were cool and my girlfriend thoroughly enjoyed seeing/petting them. Mechelle and everyone else were super friendly and cool as hell to hang out with. They accommodated my truck camper for us and we had to check in a bit later in the night but they made it work for us. Thanks for everything guys, I'll likely be coming back to check out more of the area.

The Grove

The camp spot was well lit and it was easy to find. However it was in an area where the llamas are actually living and there was a lot of poop. A rake was provided but overall the site was not very hygenic. The hosts were super friendly and responsive with texts. We arrived at night and didn’t notice the situation or we probably wouldn’t have stayed there. Also the site is right next to Rte 97 so lots of loud trucks much of the stay. From the description we really wanted to like the Grove but were a little disappointed.

We loved staying here! The Alpaca are super casual and basically go about their business, but we enjoyed watching the young ones playing. The pigs are pretty cool too. Casual vibe and great location very close to Mt. Shasta and a lot of great hiking opportunities. We would definitely recommend staying here.
