I lived camping in Richard’s place.
Place is very well maintained , Richard was a very good host , helped us till we start the fire.
Definitely the best place to camp!

I was disappointed with my visit, and ended up not staying the second night. There were so many mosquitoes we had to spend most of our time inside the tent, and the land where the host put us was not level, which was a bummer. However, the worst was that he had us camped near the male goats (in a pen 50 feet away), who rough-housed and made weird, almost person-like sounds ALL NIGHT LONG (too much testosterone, perhaps?)! I didn't get more than an hour's sleep without being woken up by those loud, bad boys! Although Richard was friendly enough, the situation was pretty poor, even for a seasoned camper like me, and I simply could not imagine another night of no sleep and mosquitoes.

Our time at Richards land was a great experience. The art around the property was really cool to look at, the tent sites were all flat and spaced out well, and we even got to use his fire pit to have a bonfire. There were ducks, a turkey, the friendly yard dog, and even goats so it felt like a little farm experience. The host was very accommodating with everything we needed and I felt comfortable bringing my two children there. As we left, he even showed us around his greenhouse and sent us in our way with peppers, basil, green onion, and carrots. We really enjoyed our one night here.

Very interesting place to camp! It’s on a farm with lots of animals and art. We got to feed the goats! The host was cool and sat and talked with us for a bit and even offered some duck eggs for breakfast. The site itself was very chill and pretty private. It’s down next to the river so it was a good 5-10 degrees cooler and it was all very shaded. We had some trees to set up hammocks. Bring bug spray! I would definitely recommend this spot!

I truly enjoyed this trip! I went in went an open mind and it was just as I had hoped for. I loved holding the beautiful animals and seeing the wonderful art Richard and his friends have created. Richard and his friends are such kind people and very talented! I felt so welcome and would highly recommend to those who enjoy a hippie life style with animals! The heat was rough at night but it cooled down around 11 pm and was great. Bring bug spray!!

Loved staying a Richard’s property! He’s super nice and welcoming. Even gave us some duck eggs for breakfast. The river spot at Beaslie flats is super close and was a great time as well

We loved staying on the art farm!!! Art installations + active farm ? Count me in! This lovely property is full of imagination, personality and love—- my favorite was the jaguar sculpture next to our site. I especially loved the ducks, goat babies, and dogs. Zorro is a total snuggler! It was super nice to have a safe place for a few days. Boondockers paradise. I also loved the swing in the trees. Close to Jerome, cottonwood ands great jumping off point for all our adventures without all the off-roading. Thanks for the amazing hospitality and keep the spark alive !

We absolutely loved staying on the art farm !!! Art installations with a farm twist? Count me in. Lovely quirky property full of personality, imagination and love- my favorite creation was the Jaguar right next to our site. It was so nice to have a safe place as well for a few days in a row. I especially loved the ducks and goats and dogs. Zorro is a total ham. Shade a swing in the trees made it extra cozy. Boondockers paradise. Close to Jerome, Cottonwood and a great jumping off point for adventures without all the off-roading. Thanks for the amazing hospitality Richard! Keep the spark alive.

Richard is a generous and kind host, as is his tenant/assistant. The entry into the property is a bit off putting, but the sites are well maintained. It’s like camping in a grove and very lovely. Richard has two huge livestock guardians dogs that look very intimidating, but are both lovely creatures. The older would lay outside our door like she was guarding it. It is a very quiet location.

This place was absolutely filthy. I did not stay. There are multiple permanent residents in campers literally surrounded by garbage. There were four piles of dog feces on the “campsite” the host assigned me and goat poop literally everywhere. The bathroom was pointed out to me as an old garage, not the outhouse in the pictures. Unsure what the condition was as I did not choose to check it out.
The host was very clear that I was not to ask neighbors for help finding his property, which I found odd. There is trash and poop everywhere. It felt like a commune of some type, which was not clear from the listing as I thought I’d be camping in a quiet area and meeting a goat farmer and his herd. In reality it’s a large property with lots of people living on it, trash piles everywhere, loose animals and a lack of hygiene/cleanliness. The vibe was very off and I did not feel safe sleeping there. I’m all for art and freedom, even communal living, but I draw the line at tetanus and parasites. This place seems risky.

Richard was absolutely lovely! From the second we pulled in he was helpful and friendly. He offered us a full tour of his space and the chance to meet all the animals. He even offered us food or to take some duck eggs with us in the morning. The camping area was such a cool space filled with metal pyrotechnic sculptures and a creative energy. Richard is quite the artist and we are greatful to have been able to stay and meet him.

Richard and his space is nice and relaxing. You can enjoy his animals and art his Turkish livestock guardian dogs kept the wild animals away and for that I’m really glad about and felt safe. He shared some fresh duck eggs and offered to share fresh goat milk - he’s a great host and has some cool stuff and stories! I’d stay there again.

Great for my spouse and I. We felt safe and loved all the animals. I’m not sure i’d bring my family though as there was a lot of stuff on the property that I know my kids could wreck. Richard was extremely welcoming even on what was a difficult personal day.

I had never been into the Verde Valley before, it was fun to go down into the neighborhood and see what's there. We just spent a quick night and moved on early the next day but the location was perfect. Fell asleep to coyote howls nearby.

If you like outsider art, goats, sweet dogs, and are pretty self reliant this place is for you. Richard was a super sweet host, and made sure I had any questions answered before he left me to my own devices to get my cooking fire started. Sleeping under the light of a full moon filtering through the mesquite was truly magical.

We Alaskans felt right at home on the property, but Your Mileage May Vary. If you felt the need to keep your shoes clean at all times, this is not the right spot for you. But, if you like meeting unique people or have a hippie lean, I think you’ll like it here. Our 2 year old loved seeing the goats and the sculptures.

My wife and I love this place and we love Richard. My wife got really sick the morning we were leaving and Richard let us come back and break down our stuff after she got better. Awesome camping spot with an amazing host. We will be returning for sure!

Interesting place. Richard the host was welcoming and very laid-back, and his three watchdogs Zorro, Eiden and Barka were sweethearts once we were introduced. Noisy place, though; lots of barking through the night, not recommended for light sleepers. All the animals looked to be very well cared for. Campsites could do with some fire-rings and the bathroom needs definite renovation.

My wife and I had an amazing time and Richard is a wonderful and friendly host. His land is right by the river and he has dogs, goats, ducks and turkeys! He is an old school Burning Man artist and sculptor and is really a genuine and nice man with funny stories. We will be going back there again for sure!

Art was interesting; however, the camp just looked like trash laying everywhere. One of the dogs peed on my son while we were trying to eat. Goat poo was all over the ground where we needed to pitch our tent. Owner was more than just "eccentric". The whole experience was not great. Booked 3 nights, but only stayed one because we didn't feel comfortable. Someone else came in after us and they also left because something was just off. There was a dog on property who had to be locked up because the other campers had a young child with them and apparently, the dog is aggressive to small children and other dogs.

The original Burning Man spirit is well and alive at Verde Goats.
Richard is a welcoming host. He even took me to swim at a nearby river.
No shower, and a basic restroom, but a beautiful spot to set your tent.
Don’t miss Richard’s metal art and his friendly dogs and goats.

I had such a great time here! The animals and art were super fun! The location is central to some good trails, beautiful swimming or paddling spots but it’s also so beautiful and peaceful that it’s hard to want to leave the campground! Richard, the host even took me on a quad ride down to the river from the property! I highly recommend this spot and will be back.

It was a unique campsite and we loved all the quirks associated with the place. The place had all the essentials for camping. One of our favorite thing about the campsite was all the animals.There was goats, ducks and guard dogs. The dogs are really friendly and we felt safe in the gated area. We recommend this spot to anyone who wants a unique camping experience.

Had an amazing night here. Wish we could have stayed longer. The baby goats were so adorable and Zeus gave my partner a good, muddy hug to welcome her. 💚 We loved every minute here and can’t wait to come back again!
