This beautiful pine cabin is small but lovely. The views are beautiful from every angle. You are situated up high, so as to view the whole valley and plateau. The stars are bright and appear closer, as the area is off grid and far from big city lights. The air is soft and fragrant with sage. The wind is delicious on a hot day. You can spy the Grand Wash Cliffs, and you are just 18 miles from the Grand canyon, where the spirit of the Wild West is still felt. There is a spirituality to the place. Mohave high desert plants abound, including agave, teddy bear cholla, brittle brush, sage, joshua trees and juniper trees. The camp site is 1.25 acres, but not marked with more than a pile of rocks in each corner. please be respectful of the boundary and don't stray more than 20 feet past the big juniper tree off to the east. Feel free to follow the road up to the mountain. After a certain point the land is BLM owned and open to the public. A purple flag indicates private property. There are no property owners living in this near vicinity. The cabin boasts three windows, that can be opened for cross ventilation. There is one brand new mattress and pillow with new linens, a light weight cotton throw and several new cotton towels and hand cloths hanging from butterfly hooks. There is a small table and chairs, and a propane cooker. We also have bowls, plates, glassware and cutlery for two. There is a small pot for heating up food or boiling water. A ladle and potato masher, knife, can opener and drip coffee maker. There is a butcher block counter top with a sink and grey water system below. Water can be poured into the sink from the glass water dispenser above. We also have a cooler ready for your ice. There are solar lights adorning the cabin at night, and a campfire ring for small discrete camp fires. Please be aware of the heat-there is no well on site, so make sure to stock up on gallons at the Chevron station or in Meadview. There should be at-least one gallon waiting for you when you arrive, but after that, you must pick up as much water as you need at one of the nearby designated spots (Chevron station, Dollar Store). Meadview is 10 miles away and boasts several excellent places to eat-I prefer the Boathouse. Five miles to the East is the Diamond Bar Ranch, which has an excellent restaurant and historic decor. The mornings and evening are cool, but mid-day can be very hot. I would plan activities for the day hours, to avoid sweltering Arizona heat. The Grand canyon is minutes away. the Diamond Bar ranch offers free entertainment and is a trove of historical information. Lake Mead (South Cove) is great for swimming and sight seeing. There are several cute shops in Meadview to shop for locally made wares. Go prospecting or check out a gun range. There are millions of acres of BLM land to explore-just please check a map and make sure you are not on private property. If you see a purple sig, that is the international symbol for private property. Please respect the plant life and do not tread directly on any of the plants. It is tempting to collect the gorgeous quartz that abounds, but please leave all quartz on the property, as it is a part of what makes the place so magical. If you would like to take home a souvenir, please take just one from the driveway which is strewn with lovely chunks of quartz. Mohave desert is a surreal and mesmerizing place. It’s plants grow slowly, and it takes many years to grow back a casually destroyed agave or cholla, so please do not collect any plant specimens or cut down any plants for firewood. I can be contacted for more info, please feel free to call me if you have any questions! This rental is intentionally simple. It is a place for those who want to commune with nature and truly relax. Be it a digital detox or a simple weekend retreat, this place delivers a peace that is hard to find. It is my happiest place and I hope you enjoy it as well! I almost forgot, there are knitting needles and yarn-please feel free to use them! I will buy more yarn if you end up knitting yourself something. I also have a few books on Buddhism and Tibetan mysticism, the Grand Canyon and An ancient copy of Hiawatha. One final note-this is a wonderful place for a single person or for two close companions. The bed is a single, but we plan on getting an additional mattress or mat for an additional guest. For now, if there will be two of you, I’d suggest bringing a single mat or sleep cuddled up together. Juniper & Sage house is an intentionally slow place. It’s great place to do a digital detox and just be with your thoughts. Our set up is deliberately modest, yet very comfortable.Be our first guest! We will never again be offering prices this low! For $40 a night, you can enjoy this magnificently beautiful location. This enchanting cabin and grounds are set around 3800 feet above sea level and features panoramic views of the Grand Wash Cliffs, Meadview, and Lake mead (on a clear day). The one room cabin is 107 square feet and is nestled up against Iron Mountain. There is a forest of Joshua trees just below and to the left of the 1.25 acre site. The site is equipped with table and chairs, a single new mattress that sits atop a sturdy built in day bed, with fresh linens, and a cotton blanket, all brand new. There are several cotton Turkish towels, hand and body. There is a 'bathroom" outside (or inside if you prefer). It consists of an olive green tent with solar light. On the inside is a toilet and toilet paper. You must bag up your waste (bags provided) and take out with you, as you would in a National Park. There is a campfire ring available for your use, along with plenty of wood and a small saw for creating smaller pieces. We have cutlery, plates, bowls, a pot and pan, drip coffee maker and other cooking accoutrements. There is an indoor butane stove top, with a fresh canister, available for your usage. There is also a styrofoam cooler and sink with grey water system below. This allows one to brush teeth, do dishes etc. there is a lovely water dispenser on the counter for potable water. Feel free to utilize the wooden knitting needles, and vintage cotton yarn if you feel the need to do something calming in the afternoons. There are also several books available for your reading pleasure. We also have a camp shower available, which works on solar power. Mohave Sunset house is about slowing down and enjoying the small things in life 💖 However, there are a myriad of things to do nearby, if you are interested in filling your days with novel experiences. There is Lake Mead recreational area about 15 miles away, the Grand Canuon Skywalk is 18 miles away. The Grand Canyon Western Ranch, 5 miles away, has a gun range, helicopter rides, horseback riding, a petting farm, horse carriage rides and more. There is an excellent old timey restaurant and nightly entertainment and marshmallow roasting. In the other direction is Meadview, about 5 miles away. There you can get gas, cheap necessities at the Dollar Store, and visit the local farmers market and shop for souvenirs at the local shops. There is an ice cream vendor and two famed diners, a post office and library. Vegas is just under two hours away, and Zion and Bryce are within driving range ( about four hours if you take major highways, less if you know the back roads) if you want to hit up all the great canyon parks of the western United States.
