Rest up in peace and quiet in this leafy, shady garden spot. Our place is an oasis in the desert and is admired by all visitors as the most lush, cool spot in Cane Beds. The surrounding vermillion cliffs match the adobe walls of this charming cottage. This unique cottage is a rare example of an earth dwelling. Built about 30 years ago with adobe red clay, sand and straw, it is modernized and recently renovated. You will see two examples of the application of the adobe method in this building. If you have pets you must add them under EXTRAS. We have it listed under EXPERIENCES and we charge $25 cleaning fee per visit. The way Hipcamp has us do this is not very well done, it's a bit clunky. But Just select one pet if you are staying shorter than a month, two pets if a month or longer. It is not a fee per pet, or per guest, it is per visit. So if you have two pets and are staying a week then select for only one pet. Just let us know how many pets (and what kind) to expect. Message us with any questions. Dogs will have to be on leash when outside since we have a number of cats and even though your dog may not chase them, the cats would certainly be a bit freaked out. Also it's possible that your pet could get out onto the road which has claimed several of my kitties. Please know if your dog will be OK watching the kitties through the windows or when outside. We are within reach of several National Parks and other scenic sights for a day trip, including North Rim Grand Canyon, ZION, Bryce, Coral Pink Sand Dunes State park, Pipe Spring National Monument, Grand Staircase Escalante National Reserve and on and on. All around is breathtaking beauty and many easy hikes and mind-blowing vistas just in the neighborhood! Just to note, there is only 1 bedroom with a queen bed. With notice we can bring in a camp bed, or you can set up your tent on the lawn for extra guests or children.

My mother built this house with her husband out of the local clay soil. The clay soil if deep red umber from the presence of iron in the soil just like the surrounding cliffs. You will see 3 types of adobe build here. First bricks of adobe were made in this original section and then another type of technique of stacking sections on top of each other as they dried and then they added straw for a more 'cob' type of build. This was built some 30 years ago. They built as they went, the first section being this Adobe Cottage portion. If you are interested I can show you pictures from beginning to end. Also in the rest of the build, the next section to be built, the used a hard packed earthen floor as you find in the bedroom of the cottage. It feels very peaceful. My mother who passed a few years ago, meditated every day in this space. Even though I cannot claim to have full access for wheelchairs I can say that it is all one level and there is no barrier to going thru doors. The doors are all new and 36", with openings slightly less. I feel that those that can stand up and have help to pushing the chair through will be able to access the premises. Both exterior doors and both interior doors are the same dimensions. As for more than 2 guests please keep in mind that there is only 1 bedroom with a queen bed in it. We can supply a camp bed for an extra guest or you can pitch your own tent and your own beds on the lawn. I have some air mattresses available for your use as well. There are no dogs or dangerous animals to cause you problems but there are a lot of cats outside only! If you come in the spring and summer months you can enjoy our gorgeous garden and fruit trees. In good years there are huge amounts of apricots, pears, peaches, apples and grapes to sample. Our flower garden is at it's most spectacular in June! I feel this is the perfect month here as there are very few flies to bother you when you sit out, the weather and temperature are perfect and the flower garden is in full bloom. It is a great month to go hiking and exploring! But you can do all that all summer long, it's just hotter in some areas. This lovely cottage is over hung by huge cottonwood trees on the west side where the lawn is and it makes it so lovely and shady!

Cute 'LIL Cabin in Cane Beds

Our own little Oasis away from it all. We've got a micro-climate of trees and garden in the desert. This cute cabin is actually two cabins, just one step away the second cabin is your own private bathroom with washer/dryer, full bath and shower. Sit on the porch and see the Red Rock Bluffs straight ahead. Inside is a Full-size brand new bed, sitting area and kitchenette, Smart TV and great Wi-Fi! To your right is a green lawn and close by are Zion, Coral Pink Sand Dunes, Bryce Canyon and hikes. This Cute Cabin is on the same property as another unit that we call The Kitty Cottage, which shares the driveway and the lawn. Our home is also on the property. We also have a free-roaming, no -cage small private cat rescue called CatTerrific Rescue. Our cats are very friendly and all are neutered and vaccinated. You may find the Rescue on social media and the website. None of the public come to the rescue, there are no drop offs, pick-ups or visits from the public. Our rescue is a registered 501.c.3 charity. We have a lovely piece of land that has lots of trees and flowers with a lawn. This greenery creates a micro-climate where it is often 5 to 10 degrees F warmer than the rest of Cane Beds. We are in a nice small neighborhood with children and livestock, that is typically very quiet. There are 6 other homes on our street. Our street and driveway are maintained gravel. Our property borders Cane Beds road and is fenced along Cane Beds Road and 2 other sides but open on the neighborhood side. We will try to greet you on arrival unless you come in quite late. Other than that we will not disturb you unless you need something. You will see us walking about the place taking care of things. You may call/text us at the number we give you on arrival.

Wonderful and charming cottage!

Adobe Earthen Cottage

Our stay at the Desert Oasis was absolutely lovely and exactly as advertised. The cottage is charming and has all amenities you could ask for. The property is also full of cats as Kelleen has a cat rescue and each of them are extremely friendly. We enjoyed eating meals outside with the cats coming up for pets, however, I would caution anyone who is allergic. The surrounding location of the cottage itself is absolutely stunning and nearby there are sand dunes, trails, and it is within 90 minutes of both the Grand Canyon and Zion National Parks. I highly recommend staying here.

Kelleen is a great host with a very charming place. Really enjoyed my stay and had no problems finding the place thanks to very good communication from the host. The place also includes all the things you need for cooking etc. very much recommended.

The BEST Kitty Cottage!! :)

We absolutely LOVED the kitty cottage!! All of the cats were so friendly and sweet, and some of them will even come cuddle with you in the cabin :) We saw around 15 cats but I think there are around 30 on the property. When we arrived we were greeted by the sweetest lady (Kelleen!) and three of the most excited kitties. The space itself was amazing as well, she had the fridge stocked for breakfast in the morning for us. The cabin had all the amenities we could have wanted, as well as a little outdoor patio in the backyard (great for greeting kitties in the morning). She also provided a binder full of sights and things to do in the area. The surrounding mountains are beautiful, and it’s less an hour drive to Zion. We absolutely loved our stay overall and we wish we could’ve stayed longer!! <3 It was probably the best rental we’ve ever had!

If you’re a cat lover this is the ultimate paradise! There is a kitty door so select cats can come and go (if you’d like) from the little cottage. My absolute dream (but I kept it closed because I was with my travel kitty). Nothing is more enjoyable than staying at a cat paradise. I can’t wait to return

The Kitty Cottage was a perfect little refuge with a lot of furry friends and a wonderful host. The cottage itself was clean, the kitchen was well supplied, and the bed was comfortable. The views of the surrounding plateaus were amazing in the morning and it was great to enjoy morning coffee on the back patio with the resident clutter of cats. Would definitely stay again!

Adobe Earthen Cottage

The Adobe Earthen Cottage was as advertised, the pictures were also correct. The cottage was fully equipped, cozy and perfect for us and our two dogs. There is a Chevron and a large-scale grocery store nearby. The property is full of trees and flowers, contributing to making the stay quiet, peaceful, and very enjoyable. Kelleen was a great host; she is very friendly and responds quickly if needed. We will most definitely return for additional stays.
