DAVID is a Star Host

From sunrises over the Swisshelm Mountains to sunsets over the Mule Mountains, this location, consisting of a 9 acre lot in the Tombstone Ranch Estates is pristine and has not been abused. There are no abandoned ranch houses, mobile homes, cars/trucks…. no garbage at all. For anybody who knows Cochise County very well, that is not the case in a lot of areas. This Hipcamp consists of 2 26 ft tipi's and 6 campsites. It is on Drifters Way...turning west off of Frontier Road going S or N. Frontier runs into Davis Road going N. If you hit Davis Road you missed Drifters Way.

The Cochise a 26 Ft Tipi
This was AMAZING
From the moment we set foot on the property, we were warmly welcomed by our gracious host, David, and his delightful dog, Stormy. The intro to the amenities proved to be a pleasant surprise, as it was evident that thoughtful consideration had been given to ensure our comfort and convenience. The place was generously equipped with essentials such as tables, chairs, and lanterns, as well as a sofa bed and an air mattress for a restful night's sleep. The provision of a stove top for our culinary needs and a space heater for those chilly evenings was much appreciated. The addition of two picnic tables added a delightful outdoor dining option. An unexpected bonus was the nearby porter potty, which was, quite possibly, the cleanest we've ever encountered. The only items we found necessary to bring along were food, water, and sleeping bags. The tepee itself radiated a sense of coziness that immediately made us feel at home. The surrounding land, flat and with minimal visual obstructions, provided a picturesque backdrop for both sunrise and sunset. The nighttime in this place carried its own unique charm. The sounds of coyotes howling and roaming the land added a wild, untamed touch to the experience. It was as if nature was putting on a live performance, reminding you of the thrilling proximity of wildlife In essence, this place fuses simplicity with comfort and natural beauty, creating a unique experience that invites you to connect with nature while enjoying the comforts of home.

The Cochise a 26 Ft Tipi
We stopped here for one night on the way to Grand Canyon. The best place and the best host!!! Tipi was a great experience. The sky was full of stars and we could hear coyotes howling. David was very helpful.

The Cochise a 26 Ft Tipi
What a fantastic setup! The tipis were spacious, well apportioned with everything we needed including Coleman stove, outdoor chairs, sofa, recliner, etc. Such a great setting in the desert, close (20 miles-ish) to Bisbee, and the crane wintering area. David was very attentive, helpful, and met us upon arrival. Highly recommend this Hipcamp!

Tent Site II
Perfect desert campsite
Gorgeous little campsite! It’s very convenient to the Whitewater Draw Wildlife area (less than 10 minutes away) if you’re trying to find a place nearby so you can see the sandhill cranes at sunrise. So clean, and I loved that site II has the little windbreak wall. It was pretty easy to find, and the road into the sites has gravel on it and good signs so you can definitely tell where your car belongs, and where the campsites are. (I have been to other places that seem like just one big dusty open area, which can be a problem especially if you’re arriving closer to dark.) I also really appreciated the extremely clean portapotty, and the sand area for my tent. David was a great communicator through the app when I did the instant book just an hour or two before I headed out there, and met me when I arrived. After a brief chat about the site and offering an extra lantern if I needed one, he left me to my evening. This is in a beautifully wide open space for watching the sunrise, sunset, or the full moon. I might come back another time to try to catch it when the moon is new because I’m sure the star viewing is amazing.

The Cochise a 26 Ft Tipi
Loved the tent and atmosphere. Coyotes howling is an appropriate name. David is an interesting person and very accommodating. Sofa bed may not be the most comfortable bed so make sure you take your own air bed with your bedding. Portable toilet on side but no showers if you need it. But a good night's sleep.
