Reading the reviews for this place you might find folks raving about Joyce and how helpful and nice she is. Well, it’s all true!! It is quite close to the road, but come nightfall, it was quiet and peaceful. Easy to get to, and Ajo is 10 miles down the road. There was a binder set on our colorful picnic table with all there is to do around there! We wished we could have stayed longer to get to know Joyce and hear some of her stories. (We also enjoyed her Scottish accent!😉)

What a lovely little campground. Joyce was so kind and accommodating. I was met with a big binder of things to do and places to eat which was super helpful. The campsite is quiet and the stars were amazing. I can’t wait to go back with my kiddo.

Joyce might be the nicest person I’ve ever met. She’s welcoming and attentive without being overbearing. We loved sitting by the campfire and talking to the other guests. Joyce provided an experience that more than met our expectations and was a great value. I’d definitely stay there again when I’m in the area.

We enjoyed our stay at Joyce’s place. She’s a lovely host, she even brought us tea and snacks when we arrived! We were delighted to see a Great Horned owl, hummingbirds and woodpeckers at our spot. If we were staying in the area we would definitely consider the place for longer term stays, it’s great value compared to other rv sites in the area.

Joyce is an absolute delight and welcoming host. My dog loved her. The site was well maintained and the dog run was a big bonus. The sky is incredible. A lovely way to experience this area.

Ajo is Awesome!

We enjoyed our stay. Ajo and Why are beautiful and we were able to enjoy the meteor shower. Joyce was very sweet and even had a well stocked bathroom with all the necessaries(which came in really handy because we forgot toothpaste. ) Sadly we had to cut our visit short because my job decided they needed me Monday (after granting me the time off). There is a really cool cactus park and rock shop that we got to briefly visit. We look forward to visiting again when we have more time. Joyce even offered us coffee for the drive home.

Convenient, Comfortable, Quiet

Joyce was responsive via Hipcamp and text. I found directions a bit confusing but was able to get clarification from her and the place was easy to find. Bathroom was clean and had extra amenities if you forgot anything. We were able to dump our grey water which was a plus. Overall a convenient place to stay at and whenever I’m back I plan to stay here again.

First, Joyce is a great host. She greeted us and got us settled in. Second, the location is ideal for a stop over before going to Punta Penasco. Third, she has a communal firepit in the evening where folks can sit around and visit. Most of the people staying there are either snowbirds or people working in the area. It’s interesting to listen to others stories as to why they are staying there. There were 3 groups from Canada, one from WI and a working man from TX. Great hookups and a nice clean restroom. If we are back that way, we will definitely visit Joyce again.

We loved Sonoran Skies! We had a fun time around the campfire visiting with such an eclectic group. Just the accents alone were fun to listen to! Scottish, French, Canadian and us midwesterners. The chickens were fun to see and we would definitely go back! Great place!

Near Organ Pipe and Chickens!
Sonoran Skies
We arrived Christmas Eve falling short of our goal to be at Organ Pipe as we were concerned over the first come first served reservation at that time. Our host Joyce met us with a turkey dinner for all and had a Christmas Cactus allocated for our five year old to used for Santa Claus to deliver the presents. The next morning we were able to meet and greet her flock of chickens in the coup along with a turkey. Our daughter really loved the chickens! The place is right off the road and close to Organ Pipe (about 22 minutes) so it is a great place to base if you want a full hook up for your RV (Organ pipe is dry camping only). There are also water only sites if you are solar (like us) and also full tent or dry camping is available. The town of Ajo is only a short drive north (about 15 minutes) and there is a food store, hardware store and laundromat there though Joyce plans on installing laundry machines soon. Joyce went out of here way to make us feel at home. This is a real gem in the desert for kids who want to play with chickens and for a full hook up to base camp for Organ Pipe.
