CampWay presents: Friendly Pines Camp. CampWay operates the property during the camp's offseason from the summer during the months of August through May. The camp has been in continuous operation since 1941, the camp occupies an ideal location just six miles from Prescott. Besides the outdoor setting of fields, lakes, streams and forests, Friendly Pines also is favored in having both an outstanding staff and excellent physical plant: charming redwood buildings provide amply for sleeping, and other needs.  Numerous hiking trails include Toby's Hole, Lake Trail, Goldwater Lake Trail, and the infamous boulder pile. Our private lake is closed to the public and is only available to our guests. With catfish, and bass you are sure to catch a fish or two. Catch and release only please, no swimming, no watercraft. When you're not fishing you can enjoy wildlife that surrounds the lake, be it deer, squirrels, or the many different birds that frequent it.  We have a designated outside fireplace where you can enjoy a warm cup of hot cocoa, or gaze at the night sky while breathing in the fresh cool air from pines that surround us.  We recommend bringing a hammock as there are endless spots available to lay and relax in the calm forest.

It was ok. Only spent a night there, so didn’t get to enjoy all the things this place has to offer. Like that is was surrounded by trees and close to city.

Great place to stay!
Had a great time staying at the campgrounds. Felt very safe and the cabins were clean and functional. A lot of fun to walk the campground area and nearby trails. Staff was helpful and quick to answer inquiries.

Lots of fun and nostalgia!
It was very beautiful and the hosts were very accommodating! There was lots to explore and wildlife came super closer to us. The cabin was clean and it was pretty easy to have some privacy. Only thing is I wish we would have been notified a film crew was going to be filming a commercial and setting up right outside our cabin starting in the morning. Made it a little tough to have a fire in the morning but we ended up leaving a little earlier. Overall, still would rate it a 10/10! Thank you so much :)

Great Fall Getaway!
Just like its description stated, a rustic cabin in the forest. We were greeted by Chris and Jonathan who were very friendly and pleasant to talk with. They were quick to bring over the fire ring we requested and even provided a space heater when we mentioned the heater in the cabin wasn’t enough for us the first night. Coming from the Phoenix area we were out of practice with nighttime lows in the low 40’s/high 30’s. Everything was great and the location is really close to numerous trailheads, as well as Prescott. We definitely recommend and will certainly be back!

Great place for a group
I have to admit to not paying enough attention while booking, so didn't grasp that the cabin was for a large group (i.e. has several bunk beds in one large room) and not just a small cabin for 2 people - my fault entirely. That aside, the camp has lots of facilities, is in beautiful countryside, and I had the chance to go fishing in the lake which was a bonus. Jonathan the host was great with sending detailed instructions and a map, which made finding the cabin easy. Would definitely recommend for a group.

Definitely a great experience!
Staying here was awesome! If you’ve never been camping and want to introduce someone, this is a great way to start! It was very nostalgic for me having lived at and gone to summer camp growing up. We went on a great hike and enjoyed exploring around camp. It was a great time!

Wildlife everywhere
Great private quiet camp. We heard the coyotes yipping at dawn and the biggest herd of deer passed right by our cabin. An eagle flew over us during our morning hike. Would definitely come back just for the wildlife. The host and staff were all friendly. Recommend the hike tour with jake. He knows his plants and geography very well.

Wow! SO good!
This place is amazing! Beautiful, well-maintained camp. Remote but still accessible. Staff is super friendly and accommodating. One of the coolest places I’ve ever stayed. Their WiFi is surprisingly great too- I was able to work remotely and take Zoom calls no problem. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Summer camp feels, book here
What a gem of a place! First of all the nostalgia of being there, a time almost lost forever ...summer camp. The grounds are beautiful and very private, not to mention the affordable option to have a little cabin. We had so much taking my 4 small nieces and nephews on their first camping trip. They had so much fun getting to explore the outdoors and discover nature. We will definitely be back soon

Great place for the whole family
We stayed for two nights with a toddler and a dog and loved it. There’s so much to do on this property, we enjoyed walks, the play ground, and the basketball and tennis court. The cabins are rustic and only provide shelter and running water. Ours was a smaller one with 3 older metal bunks and a nice wooden one. We brought a burner and a cooler fridge to heat and cool our food. I chose our cabin because it has counter space by the sink - so dish washing and meal prep was a little more convenient. There was no fan in the cabin and it was hot the first night we stayed. I mentioned this to Jonathan the next morning when we saw him on our walk. He offered us a box fan and dropped it off to us a little bit later. I was so grateful for that and slept incredible second night. The staff is so friendly and the camp is quaint and fun with lots of things to do. We really enjoyed our stay and will for sure be back

Beautiful place to stay
What a wonderful place to stay. The camp steward gave wonderful directions and went out of his way multiple times to help us out. The private lake was heaven! Went on a small hike around the perimeter with my little one and it was cleared really nicely. Will definitely stay again.

For a quick, last minute getaway this was a great place for the kids. Even though we were not able to have fires, we were given a propane fire pit and we still roasted marshmallows. There were activities that the kids did the second day, but overall it was a quiet, friendly place to go with our friends to enjoy wonderful weather and the outdoors. Plus our daughter loved the cat that kept visiting our cabin...I even shared my sandwich with it.

Great place to take the family; especially if you are new to camping or have little ones that get bored easily.. There are great activities for everyone, horse backriding, arts and crafts, swimming, archery and more. Even got to see deer walking through the camp early in the morning!

Great Value, Child Friendly, Fun
Our 4 night stay in early June with 2 grandkids and one daughter at the FPC was a very nice getaway from the heat of Phoenix. Temperatures were very mild and perfect for long morning hikes. Using a bunkhouse normally used by young children was a hoot, but having beds, electricity, wifi, showers, and a bathroom made for easy camping. The mattresses were unexpectedly comfortable. We took an electric skillet plus some tables and cooked out most meals. Our only disappointment was that the pool was open for just an hour on some days and cost an extra $5/person ... we felt $20/day to swim 1 hr was excessive.

Enjoyed our overnight stay at Friendly Pines cabins. It iwas nice to have electricity, a working toilet and a showere as we normally go the tent camping route and have to do without these. Our youngest enjoyed a dip in the pool after arriving and the lifeguard on duty, Ted, even kept it open so our son could get in a little extra swim time. Also did some family exploring at Goldwater Lake which was just a few miles down the road.
