Located just north of the Santa Rita Mountain range, and on the fringe of the community of Corona de Tucson, this desert land is just a piece of about 30+ acres owned by the Walker family before it was subdivided and split amongst family members. Your on-site hosts (Audrey and Steven) have decided to turn their recently purchased little 3.3-acre piece of this rugged desert into a place for friendship and fun, where a night by the fire and a drink in your hand surrounded by friends new and old are the goal. We're close the county fairgrounds, a couple race tracks, and all the desert hiking you can possibly stand. Many other sights, like the Sonoran Desert Museum and Saguaro and Coronado National Parks are not awfully far, but certainly worth a visit if you have time. This is not really a money-making business for the hosts, but more of a way to stay connected to our camping community by opening up our private property to new friends who need a base camp close to town, but who appreciate the rugged desert as well. We know camping is sparse when people are making their way from place to place, and a quick off-grid stay not too far from the freeway is usually all people need. That is why we keep our costs lower than all our neighbors, and given the limited amenities of our spots, we don't expect to gouge anyone. Our place is a safe (but prickly) location to call camp for a bit. Stay just a night or two, enjoy a weekend away from the city, a week to use the property as basecamp for other adventures, or stay up to a month and use your time to really explore the Old Pueblo. Make new friends by the fireside or bring your own. The bottom line: Enjoy the desert and its unique beautify. Everything is a bonus! Learn more about this land: Primitive desert property abutting hundreds of acres of State Land Trust with quad trails, etc. Cactus, coyotes, cattle, and critters abound. Less than 10 minutes from RV dump sites, restaurants, and shopping, and even less to the peace and quiet of the vast and beautiful Sonoran Desert. Pitch a tent or park your self-contained small RV, travel trailer, or camper on site. Enjoy the cool desert nights and dark starry skies while listening to coyotes and neighbor’s rooster and peacock sitting by a warm fire. Host a small party of friends and family for a weekend of primitive camping without driving too far away from town. We're constantly trying to improve our party area and the campsites (even when the seasonal monsoons make it a challenge), so it's important to know what to expect before your booking and arrival. More details are in our listing, which we highly recommend that people read in full to understand any limitations on our amenities and what to expect on the property if you stay with us.

The hosts were wonderful! They have done an excellent job with their property setting it up for campers. Lots of chairs, firepit, toilet etc. and it is well lit at night so you can't stumble into desert prickly plants. The price is excellent also.

There was a lot of broken glass in camping area. Which is unsafe for dogs and kids. There was a lot of storms so possibly because of this. Host was nice fairly quiet if you don’t mind airplanes and cars!! This would be a great place to throw a party!! Not so much family camping!

Bonfire with your new best friends!
We had such a great time camping on Audrey's land in Vail. She and Steve ensured we had everything we needed and then some, including suggestions for places to visit, where to shop, and how to best experience Saguaro NP. We enjoyed beautiful sunsets over the mesquite bushes each night, the yipping of nearby coyotes, friendly neighbors, and a great bonfire surrounded by twinkling solar lights, custom made pallet yard furniture, and hours of great company! I have zero complaints about our time there and look forward to visiting again in the future.

We had a great stay here! Audrey was so helpful and welcoming. It was very quiet and peaceful out there. I would say if you're looking for dark at night, bring a sleep mask as there are a lot of solar lights around the camping area. They are very enjoyable in the evening, though!

Everything we needed 👍🏻
We were passing through and needed an affordable no-hassle safe place to park our car and camp for the night. Audrey‘s place fit the bill perfectly. Be advised, the amenities are extremely basic, and that is OK because they made that clear in the campsite description. We had everything we needed and nothing we didn’t. I would recommend this place and I would camp here again. We had no difficulty finding the location because of the detailed instructions that were provided to us by the host. We showed up just before sundown and as it got dark, all of the solar lights came on. If we had shown up after dark, I think we still would’ve been fine because the area was very well marked. The communal fire pit and hang out area looked pretty nice, but we did not make use of it because we were so tired from driving.

We had a great experience camping on Audrey and Steve's land. We tent-camped for two nights in February and the weather was perfect. The sunsets at their property are an added bonus! We used the location to go to Saguaro East, which was very close, as well as Saguaro West and Mt. Lemmon. Audrey and Steve were very helpful and answered any questions quickly. The listing is exactly as described, and I would definitely stay again if in the area!

Perfectly Prickily
Perfect location. So close to the city. Reminds me of a house party place but instead of a house just an amazing patio area to eat, drink, watch the stars or sit at the campfire (nice and secluded though). Would be better for a larger group but I just did it as an overnight spot. The host were super chill and helpful.

A Desert Oasis
About the hosts : Audrey & Steve are very kind, accommodating and very friendly hosts. There were a couple of days of hard freeze out in Tucson when I stayed there and they very graciously allowed me to stay in the camper on the property. About the property: The property is approximately 25 minutes away from downtown Tucson. It is located away from the busy roadway and is very peaceful and quiet. It can get windy out there , but you should be good if you tie down the tent securely. The campsite provides great views for star gazing with very little light pollution. This was by far the best camping experience I've ever had and cannot recommend Audrey & Steve's campsite enough.
