Just 30 minutes away from the South Entrance to Denali National Park! This is one of the BEST private camping cabins on the Parks Highway! Strategically located on a secluded homestead from the 1960s, you'll be able to see Mount McKinley on a clear day! The nearby Summit Lake is perfect for fly fishing and local hiking trails are accessible right from the front door. We've got a couple kayaks for rent if you'd like to explore the local lake. Experience a TRUE Alaskan living experience in this DRY cabin with Modern touches. Since there's no interior running water or septic system, we encourage our guests to bring a couple gallons of water and some water bottles for drinking/washing hands. We do provide a camping toilet (5 gallon bucket with seat and trash bags) but you'll have to haul the bags out with you when you leave - along with your trash. Electricity is provided via a Generator that we provide - but you will be responsible for refilling the fuel you use (Vitus Gas station 5 minutes from the cabin). There is heat provided via a Fuel Oil stove. To save costs on cleaning fees - you'll be responsible to leave the cabin in as good - if not better condition than you find it when you arrive. We practice "Leave No Trace" principles. Since we don't charge a cleaning fee, you'll also need to bring your own bedding (recommend a sleeping bag) and linens/towels etc. If you're flying in to Anchorage we recommend you stop in at the local Walmart and buy a cheap sleeping bag to carry with you on your journey throughout the state. The cost of a cheap sleeping bag and/or linen set is less than a typical cleaning fee. Trust us, the extra work to enjoy this cabin is worth it! It has the most INCREDIBLE scenery! Amazing cabin experience

We really enjoyed the amazing views, walk to the water, and elegant cabin. Was very serene and peaceful. Highly recommend. Roughly 30 minutes to Denali village.

Michael’s cabin was so awesome! What a unique experience (especially coming from Rhode Island!) gorgeous view as well. Would love to come back!

We loved our 2 night stay at this dry cabin. It was easy to find, and tucked away in the woods with a beautiful view of the mountains. The cabin was clean and had everything we needed. Michael is a great host.

Denali's Doorstep Camping Cabin
Mike’s site is as described. It did exactly what we needed it to do - give us a base to explore Denali. And we left our Airstream parked there for several nights unaccompanied as we backpacked in the Park. Nothing Mike or indeed the world could do about Alaskan mosquitos - but given the time of year they were there in force. Advice to future campers with Trailers (and ours is 23ft) is follow Mike’s good advice. The site itself is tight to get into unless you reverse up the track and into it. Not hard, but set yourself up for success early by reversing. And you’d want - as he says - to arrive in daylight although very straightforward to do this in the summer as the sun barely sets.

Unfortunately we weren’t able to make the trip. However, I thought I would leave a review about Mike. He’s amazing. He was so responsive, engaging and accommodating. Our heater went out on our new travel trailer so we had to cancel, but he was very kind and concerned. I definitely plan to visit in the future. You’re awesome, Mike!

This site was incredible. Waking up to view of mountains and the river each day in a remote part of Alaska was the perfect escape. Mike was extremely communicative and the site was well kept, including a table, two benches, a fire pit, a tent pad and a spacious driveway. The location right off the highway made for an easy commute to nearby Denali and Healy. We definitely hope to return!

Beautiful little perch off the highway. Easy access, make sure to read the instructions. We went in the summer and walked to the river. Saw beavers! No bears for us, but mosquitos came in the late evening around 9pm. Bring bug spray! Nice beautiful spot to break up the drive from Anchorage to Denali, vice versa. Truly beautiful.
