Firstly, I want to say that Anthony was a very welcoming and communicative host and patient with updates and a 10min later than communicated arrival (initially missed the turn). However, the site did not meet my expectations despite reading the description carefully. There were no showers as marked on the listing (or any potable water as described afaik), but was told an outhouse is in the plans for the future. The designated area for camping was pretty uneven, so not ideal for a tent. We ended up camping on the (grass) road, which was nice and flat. The stars were really beautiful, you could easily see the Milky Way. There was no firewood available, although this is in the description but not informed that he was out until we arrived, and no designated fire ring/pit/structure, which would make me nervous to build a fire amongst a lot of dead leaf debris and acres of grass especially with the wind picking up later that night, although I see in the pictures some did so. Fortunately our camping set up is 100% self-sufficient so it did not prevent us from cooking or keeping warm. There is nothing nearby so you are unable to purchase firewood elsewhere either—and not a lot of fallen wood easily visible nearby. I suggest to ask ahead of time about availability. We only stayed the night so unable to explore the land, which was huge and the things like the lake/creek or farm crops/plants were nowhere in sight (lake directions included driving and a number of turns) so not able to check out easily.
There was a swing and the campsite was pretty but no table, no facilities, no even ground, no firewood, no fire pit—basically you are paying to legally stay on and use someone’s property and that’s it; this is probably great if you’re able to take advantage of all it has to offer. I would pick somewhere else if you are only stopping by for a rest.
The roads were primarily dirt/grass—fortunately there hadn’t been rain in a while but it may not be suitable for non-4wd vehicles to drive on if raining, so plan accordingly. I did read the description carefully and understand it is primitive camping, but I do not believe the cost reflects just how primitive. It does not compare to other sites I’ve experienced in the $25 range, I would have expected this site (for purposes of just resting) to be more like $5-10. Overall, I think the location has a lot of potential and I think in the future it would be well worth to revisit with more time and a few more features added. For now, I would pass this one and go to a state park instead.
