Due to deer season and, the fact that our family and neighbors are avid hunters, we have closed sites 19-30 from Oct 28th thru Jan 28th to ensure everyone's safety and allow the hunters to have a successful season. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation during our offseason. We have been busy this winter updating and moving sites. We have expanded the campground and added a few new sites away from the water. Three are hidden in a very secluded hollar (sites 25-27) and 3 others are atop the bluffs (18 and over only on sites 28-30).. We have also converted our old milk barn, the tank room is now our office. We have turned the old milk parlor into 4 private showers for our campers. The holding barn area is now called the "Party Barn", During your stay you are welcome to come up and hang out and mingle with the other campers, sing some karaoke, play some corn hole or cards or whatever else yall wanna do. We now also offer lazy river tubing!!! Come enjoy the day relaxing with friends and family in a tubes while floating down Barren river. And when you get to the take out point we will bring you back to the starting point with our shuttle service!! Campsites 1 thru 23 are right on the banks of Salt Lick creek and Barren river with water access at each site. Sites 25, 26 and 27 are extremely remote and located in a wooded valley where 3 hollars join. SITES 28 thru 30 ARE FOR ADULTS ONLY!!! NO CHILDREN ALLOWED AT THESE 3 SITES!!! THERE WILL BE NO EXCEPTIONS!!! These 3 sites sit atop our 300 foot bluffs and overlook Barren River and the views and seclusion from these sites are unmatched!! With sheer drop offs it is to dangerous to allow children at these sites. We would love to welcome your kids at any of our other sites though. CAMPSITES WILL BE CHECKED AFTER YOUR STAY. IF WE FIND AND TREES CUT DOWN ON YOUR SITE YOU WILL BE CHARGED 7 TIMES THE MATURE VALUE OF THE DAMAGED TREE. BOOKING A SITE WITH US MEANS THAT YOU AGREE TO THESE TERMS. We hate to have to do this but we have had trees chopped down for no reason. We have fire wood available in the camp store, and your welcome to burn anything g laying on the ground or in our brush piles. Just don't cut our trees down please Our campground is Perfect for those that love kayaking, swimming, floating, and fishing. We offer lazy river tubing, kayak rentals and also a shuttle service. The lazy river is 2 miles and usually takes 2.5 ro 3 hours or linger depending on how many times you stop.. We have multiple kayaking trip options ranging in length from 1 to 10 miles or more. There is great fishing in the creek and river and plenty of deep holes for swimming. We are in the middle of nowhere so you are away from civilization and you won't see any lights at night other than your campfire, the moon and stars and the amazing night sky. There is also very limited cell phone service at the campground but you are welcome to come up to the office and sit in the parking area to check your messages or make calls. We also ask that you Do NOT bring any fire wood onto our farm from outside. We are trying to protect our trees from invasive pests that could unknowingly be brought in from other areas. We have fire wood and ice available for purchase in our office. Thank you for your interest in our campground and we would love to have you visit whenever you get a chance.

Staying here exceeded my expectations by far!!! We booked here last minute when I couldn’t find anywhere else. I remembered The Slab By The Barren from an old friend and the yak event held last year! I’ve heard many good things about this place so decided to go out and give it a shot!!!! If you want to be in a real deal camping setting this is the spot for you. Very secluded and private. This was my boyfriends first time camping and we had a blast. Carrie the host was very kind, friendly, and made sure we had everything thing we needed before we got settled in. Highly recommend (:

Camping at the Slab by the Barren was great! We had sites #1-6 with a big group of families. The gravel bar in that area was super safe for kids to splash around in shallow water. Kids also walked a bit further down to fish. Carrie went above and beyond w a charcoal grill and firewood for us. The kids like the games (foosball, corn hole, etc) up at the slab. Campsites were secluded and quiet, just what we were looking for. Thanks again!

The grounds, scenery, and host were amazing. We enjoyed a wagon ride, fantastic hike, and a weekend full of family fun. The site was well maintained with plenty of room to explore. Thank you for a wonderful weekend!

This was a great spot and we will definitely be coming back! Carrie was very friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. Our campsite was close to the water and quiet. There were a couple other groups camping the night we stayed, but one group was on the bluff I believe, and we never saw them. The other group was pretty far away, and the only time we heard them was when they would drive by.

It was a very secluded area and exceeded my expectations in every way. We didn't take advantage of anything else Carrie had to offer because we were short on time and it was getting to be pretty chilly out. We did drive by the barn though, and it looked very nice! The river was also very clean and looked like a great spot in during the summer.

Each campsite looked like it had a metal fire ring, and it was easy for us to find enough firewood for the evening. There were a few portable toilets around for people to use as well.

All in all, my wife and I were VERY happy with this campsite. The price was great, Carrie was accommodating, the land was beautiful, and it looks like the water could be a lot of fun during the right season.

We loved that there were not many people. They have trails to bike and hike. We also brought kayaks and fished in the creek. We will return! If you like primitive camping and the ability to unplug - the slab is a great place!
