Oh my word!!! We loved this place! The tipi was incredible and an authentic suit style that they used to take with them on hunting trips! Maria and her husband Kent were so so welcoming and kind, they made us feel at home and safe and gave us a tour of the area and gave us some delicious delicious home made wine! it was sooo good. There is a little pond that we took a canoe out on and they have everything you would ever need to make any meal - besides the food itself. a fire, a dutch over and other cooking pots and pans, plates bowls, knives, forks, spoons, matches, cutting boards, cups. And there are a few different picnic tables and a hammock. They also have a glamorized outhouse, with a shower that has HOT WATER. They also provided towels and soap. Sleeping in the tipi at night was so cool, we had the craziest storm the night we slept there and didn't get wet at all! it kept us warm and dry. We definitely definitely recommend! (a really cool thing is Maria's vision that she was telling us about this little piece of paradise. Whenever she would try to take her kids on vacation to camp somewhere it would be such a hassle to try and remember everything and get there and set up camp with everything you would need and so she had this idea to make a place where all you need is your food and your sleeping bag. and that's what she made, and it's incredible!
This was so relaxing and beautiful! I am so happy to have found this spot...it was the easiest most peaceful camping I've ever done! They had everything set up for us and we had the whole 4 acres to ourselves. Super secluded. I positively plan to come back.
Can’t wait to reschedule another ti
Unfortunately, a big storm came up the day we were going to stay. Maria was very kind and communicated well with us through the entire process. I am looking forward to scheduling another time to spend a weekend at this beautiful camp site.
Our family enjoyed there a lot.
Great place to camp . We got there late in evening but we stay in morning to enjoy the place until 11 am. Host was helpful and even recommended a mechanic to fix our van flat tire.
We ll be back in the futur. Thanks
A slice of iowa paradise!
Maria has created a slice of paradise on her tranquil property. The 4 acre site is all yours for your stay. Once Maria showed us around to all the many amenities provided for our stay we were left to feel we were the only ones for miles around. The privacy was wonderful! We enjoyed walking around the mowed path around the pond, catching bass, bluegill and catfish from the canoe provided, grilling over the fire pit and taking a warm shower outside. We opted not to sleep in the Tipi but its an option for those brave to sleep along with the crawling bugs. The hammock for 2 people has a great view of the pond which was so relaxing. Maria has thought of everything one might need or want to camp. You just need your sleeping gear and food to eat. This magical place will see us again, I'm sure of it!
Beautiful pond setting
We had a wonderful stay at Walking Stick Adventures! The setting is beautiful and private with lots of space to accommodate our large group. Maria provides lots of amenities and is helpful, available and responsive without being intrusive. Our whole group really enjoyed the pond scenery and the kids loved the canoe and kayaks. Highly recommended!
Perfect weekend getaway ❤️
This beautiful cozy spot was everything we dreamed of and more. We were greeted by our lovely host and instantly felt welcome to use the space as we needed. She provided everything that we could need and more for a comfortable camp experience. The kids instantly got into the kayaks (There are three kayaks and a canoe for use!) and the adults set up camp (which wasn’t much! Since our host had provided camp chairs, the tipi, cooking tools, the fire ring). It was the Fourth of July so we were invited up to the owners space for a better view of the fireworks, and the owner shared some of the delicious homemade wine from the fruit of the land. The property had plenty of wild berries to pick, frogs, turtles, and fish galore (fishing poles provided!).
Honestly, we couldn’t have had a more amazing time, thank you to our hosts. You truly have created something magical.
