There are several ways to enjoy Threshold Learning Center (TLC): Tenting, RV, Teepee, or a night in our barn dormitory.
We have three sites where you can pitch a tent near the creek, and one tent site that is located in the middle of the prairie, where you can enjoy the wide-open night sky. Each site has it's own small fire pit, and there is also a communal fire ring

We have three sites where you can pitch a tent near the creek, and one tent site that is located in the middle of the prairie, where you can enjoy the wide-open night sky. Each site has it's own small fire pit, and there is also a communal fire ring where a larger group can gather.
We have one spot where an RV can be parked and there is electric available. The bathrooms in the dormitory are available or you may wait and use the RV dump station at the lake campground located just north of the site.
We have a teepee that can be rented to use at any of our tent sites.
We have a barn that has been renovated into a dormitory for the school groups that come for overnight experiences. There are 7 bedrooms. The family room has a queen bed with a bunk above. The other 6 rooms each have 2 bunkbeds and can sleep up to 5 people. There is a Men's restroom and a Women's restroom, each with flushing toilets, a shower, and a sink. There is a lounge and kitchenette on the main level with 7 rooms and bathrooms. The upper level has a full kitchen, large dining room, and stage.
We are a great place for a quiet, secluded stay with the family, where you can unplug and unwind. We also have the capability to host your large reunion or gathering with several ways to stay, our large dining hall, catering, and fun activities.

Perfect location for a little getaway. Loved the open spaces outside and especially the fire pit. Gretta made everything so easy- we will definitely be back!!!
This was our second hipcamp experience. This was a nice place to stay. We enjoyed ourselves. The host is super nice. The barn itself is really neat. The bathroom was clean. It was raining when we were here so we did not get to enjoy the fire pit or the outdoor areas. She supplied the blankets and bath towels, there was hand soap and bath soap. The barn has an upstairs loft that was real neat too. It was chilly at night when we were there, and she supplied a heater for our room and the barn itself has heat as well. We were there in off season, so things were very quiet. We only stayed one night but would defintely stay there again if we are ever in the area. Thank you for a lovely stay!!
Gretta and her family were amazing hosts! We had such a great time in the barn. The fire pit is an awesome space, and we were so happy with how welcoming they were to our dogs. Highly recommend this location if you're looking for an escape.
Such a spacious and cute space! Worked out perfectly for a small bachelorette party in the midst of Covid. One thing to note is the kids classes are still in session during the week. They wiped everything down before we entered the space and there was a full kitchen and living room area to hang out in. I would just be wary if you're trying to be completely distanced. You can see the stars by the campfire at night. It's the quintessential Iowa campout spot.
Our family enjoyed a long weekend and had a great time. The accommodations were exactly how they were described. We had space to prepare our meals, relax, and enjoy the outdoors. Can't wait to come back.
