I can not over-sell this campsite. Staying at 99 Bottles Winery Hills is the highlight of our road trip across the USA so far. The location was beautiful and secluded.
The camping area has several options for both RVs and tents. We chose a space in the gravel parking area. We were close to the very well-kept bathrooms and to the winery tasting room. The view of the stars at night was unmatched with very little light pollution to get in the way.
The hosts were truly wonderful. They showed us around the property, offered us a wine tasting, and allowed us to help work on the farm for the morning with them. We picked grapes while being taught about the various varieties, local life, and other interesting stories. It was such a fun way to spend the morning.
I hope we will get the chance to visit this site again and strongly suggest it to anyone who is in the area. If nothing else, come by and try their delicious, local wine.
Our stay here was so much more than we expected. Our site was just beautiful, and so private even with the campground almost full. The bathrooms were spotless and the shower was just an amazing surprise. The winery itself was beautiful and we loved the private tasting Mark gave us. This was one of the most unique and enjoyable places we’ve ever camped. We hope to return someday soon.
We thought that this was a perfect spot for a couple of nights. Mark was kind and helpful, and was extra thoughtful letting the kids feed the cattle. We stayed in site 7 which was perched up on the hill overlooking the beautiful landscape. It was very quiet, even with other campers. I’d highly recommend staying here if you get the chance, it really was perfect.
99 Bottles Winery was SUCH an awesome campsite. We unfortunately didn't arrive until close to sunset and left early in the morning, so we didn't get to explore the grounds. The campsite was well kept, the restrooms were clean, and the winery itself was absolutely beautiful. My only regret is that we didn't get to explore more. I would absolutely stay here again and would send friends driving through Iowa to this winery.
Fantastic experience & wine too
What a find! Located on a hill in the middle of sprawling cornfields. Private, secure site with good hookups and spotlessly clean facilities. Vineyards and wi e tasting was a joy . So private and Mark is a consummate host. Enjoyed the cows, fireflies and endless stars. Highly recommend.
I would give this site a ton of stars because that’s how many you see at night! The ground is leveled which makes for pleasant tent camping, with outlets to support your devices. The winery down the road is inviting and the people are enough reason to want to live there. Mark is an excellent host who can tell you all about where to go and what to see in town. I will definitely put this on my list of places to visit again!
Peaceful easy camping with a+ hosts
I cannot say enough positive things about this experience. Absolutely wonderful host with totally beautiful area and surroundings. The campsite was exactly as expected and exactly what we were looking for. Easy to set up with easy access to hookup and bathrooms. Mark was a wonderful host extremely knowledgeable, beyond nice and welcoming and the wine was great too! I would recommend staying here ten times out of ten. I hope to make it back some day to stay again.
