A stone fire pit and picnic table sit just off shore of the swimming area of the pond. There are several wide mowed pathways surrounded by prairie grasses, shaded by large trees. The area can easily handle several tents or hammocks. The area is rural farm land with a handful of houses on the short dirt road. But this property is surrounded by wood lots and open fields. Two neighbors houses are visible but separated by trees. Our house is visible from the pond and camping area.

Shade trees and swimming ponds
Bucolic, lovely mowed paths and large ponds, - great for swimming and relaxing. Mature trees, no poison ivy, lotsa bullfrogs to fall asleep to. No mosquitoes or ticks at the time of our visit. Comfortable campfire area came supplied w plenty of wood. Very pleasant stopover.
The campsite wasn’t entirely private but it was beautiful. You can see the road from the site but it was extremely rare that any cars passed by. You’re close to the house so depending on what you’re looking for that could be pro or con, we felt very safe. The grassy meadow was magical and there was hundreds of fireflies at night, it looked like the forest was glittering. The firepit was kinda overgrown so Beth let us build a fire closer to our tent and allowed us to move the picnic table which made cooking way more convenient. Even found a spot to tie up my hammock near the pond. No toilet so be prepared to dig a cat-hole! Short drive to Pokagon State Park which has beautiful trails and beach. Over-all our stay was amazing and Beth responded quickly to any questions we had via text. We appreciate them letting us stay on such short notice!
Perfect picturesque pond-side place
This place was absolutely magic. I'm sure we were there on an exceptional night for weather, but we got the full treatment of pleasant weather, tiger lilies in blossom, a nice warm pond to swim in, thousands of fireflies, and a fire to roast marshmallows over. We really couldn't have been happier.
This site was beautiful! It was a perfect first campsite for myself and my group of friends. The hosts were pretty hands off and just let us enjoy the space. There was plenty of room for parking as well. The provided firewood was a nice touch!
I stayed at Songdog Meadows for my first time camping solo. I thought I'd be pretty scared camping alone as a female, but I was actually extremely comfortable! The way the site is set up is like a peninsula, so you've got water on 3 sides, and the house is across the pond to the west. From the photos, I expected to be a little more secluded. There's a neighboring house to the east, and a road just south of the pond, which is why my only suggestion would be to add a composting toilet, or something of the sort, for a little more privacy, but I think those things so near were also part of why I felt so safe. Beth was extremely quick in her communication, and She also offered for my daughter to ride her bike on their driveway, when She came the second night, as well as provided us with the use or their dumpster for our trash. The owners left me to myself, which was nice, as it's definitely what I needed this weekend. They provided more than enough kindling and wood for the weekend, right next to the fire pit which was wonderful, as well. I even got to see 4 huge deer across the pond late Saturday morning! The site was extremely quiet, and the sunset and night sky breathtaking! I had a really enjoyable experience and with it being just under an hour from Fort Wayne, and so close to not only Pokagon, but the city of Angola had I forgotten anything, I will definitely be back!!!
