Paddle your kayak or canoe to this private campsite on the riverbank of the beautiful Tippecanoe River fed by 88 lakes. The site is accessible via the river for those that like to kayak camp.  For those less adventurous, the site is also accessible on foot via a short trail through the woods.  The campsite offers extreme privacy.  Once there, You'll be surrounded by some of the tallest trees that northern Indiana has to offer. Your camp neighbors consist of deer, beaver, river otters, mink, owls, Bald Eagles, raccoon, ducks, geese, coyotes, rabbits, bats, opossum, muskrat, squirrels, snakes, turtles, frogs, and many species of birds. As nature intended, this is a primitive site in which you must bring everything with you and take everything with you when you leave. This is what "real" camping is all about! Campfire wood may be scavenged from the surrounding woods from dead or fallen trees.  Precut firewood is also available at the backup site at no charge as long as it lasts.  Parking is located at the backup site.  You can drive your car, truck, motorcycle, or small motorhome right to the backup site using a well manicured solid dirt/sand drive.  Occasionally, mother nature unleashes a torrential rain and the Tippecanoe River rises to flood stage inundating the riverside site making it unusable.  When that happens, you MUST use the backup site which is on high ground.  When the river is at flood stage, floodwater nearly surrounds the entirety of the backup site.  This makes the backup site a very unique camping experience as well!

Highly recommend this site for a getaway weekend. Gary was incredibly nice & accommodating. He had a fire going for us when we arrived and made sure we had all we needed for the weekend--he even had an alternate site option in the event there was too much water from the rain. We had more than enough firewood for the weekend and cooked meals, hung out, and enjoyed the river & forest scenery. Would love to come back another time.

Stay at Gary’s was awesome! We got in late on Friday night and he even got a fire going for us on our arrival. Took kayaks out on the water for the day, everything was great. Loved the no frills peaceful getaway! Will definitely come back.

Campsite was well taken care of and right on the water’s edge. Great for kayak/canoe access and some bank fishing. Gary was great and you can tell that he really takes pride in providing guests with a pleasant place to stay. Definitely recommend this spot for anyone looking for a more secluded location to setup camp.

I stayed at Gary’s spot with my dog, and it was perfect for our much needed weekend getaway. The more remote camping location, when it’s not flooded, is incredibly peaceful with the orchestra of birds and wildlife singing in the background. Bring lots of bug spray (: We’ll be back!!

Gary’s little camping oasis is a must visit. I’m always in awe of the beautiful places Indiana has to offer and Gary’s land was no exception. The primitive site is just remote enough but not too remote and boasts riverside views (we got a site of a blue heron during a morning dip).

The mini cabin/barn feels like a little tiny home and provides good shelter from the rain- we loved the option of it though we set up tent next to it.

Gary was the perfect host- very kind and accommodating. He greeted us w his dogs and brought us extra fire wood, and was available for questions, but did not “bother” us beyond that.

Five out of five recommend! Thanks, Gary!

Great place to camp. The “backup” sight is where I camped and it was great. Just a short walk to the river, where I went kayaking for most of the day. I plan on returning soon.

Very cool place to be for relaxation. Very nice host, actually asked if we needed anything. Little different than we pictured and really couldn't Camp by the river site to flooding from before but it was a pleasure to walk down to and explore. Great little cabin to chill in. Lots of wood and trails. Use lots of bug spray you are by the river..

We stayed at the backup site due to flooding from the recent storms. The site was setup very well. And the location is beautiful. There were two campfires (one had a proper pit) and plenty of wood. When we got there, we did have to tidy up a bit (tree branches, bottles and beer cans left from previous campers I assume). We heard roosters and sheep at night - which was really funny. Plan ahead for the mosquitos - we just had some spray-on repellent and a couple of candles.

We were a little bummed that we couldn't canoe. We paddled out into the water but found a downed tree blocking the river. So we just packed up and went to Winona for the day!
