Listed on Rachael Ray Magazine's "8 of America's Coolest Campgrounds"
This listing is for tent, car, or small RV camping - We currently do not rent the tree house since it is my home. I may rent it out in the future and I will have a cabin available later in the year We also have the Cozy Camping Cottage available. Skip the tent setup and stay in our micro cottage. Just pull in and you'll be ready for camping. Check out the Cozy Camping Cottage listing on hipcamp.
Kids are people too - Please include all people when booking your site.
We are on a solar powered, off the grid 60 acre homestead that has 54 acres of wooded land and 6 acres of groomed land. Come explore our land and relax in the "Tree Web", see the 2 story tree house that I live in, have fun on the tire swing, or just sit and enjoy all that nature has to offer. You can explore our interesting topography that has close to 100 foot of elevation changes, our (mostly) dry creek system that starts with 2 springs that drain into 3 sinkholes or walk 3 miles of trails (if you follow each trail from end to end).
Camping can be in the Black Walnut Grove, in an open field or a shady grove. We like to interact with people or you can keep to yourself and have a quiet getaway in the woods.
We love groups - Host your event here or have a group gathering with all your friends and family. We have spaces large enough to host hundreds of people.

River, stream, or creek
We have a series of dry creeks on the land. They flow during big rain storms
Our waterfall is seasonal. It flows all year, but during the dryer season it is more of steady drip of water.
We are more of a "homestead" than a farm or ranch but we have chickens, bee keep, orchards and a garden.
We have gravel roads to get you to several different pars of the land. The main driveway is about a 1/4 mile to the barn.

Lovely little hideaway
I booked a spot at Black Walnut Grove as a mini getaway, Kerry and his partner were super accommodating and kind.
The grove is beautiful, vert secluded out in the country and I enjoyed exploring the land and its a very quick trip down to Marengo cave as well.
The sites are nicely spread out and accommodate hammocks and tents equally well (I am a hammock camper). I dont usually bother with using the facilities but the outhouse was quite a nice surprise and Kerry even offered to turn on the hot shower for me.
I will for sure be coming back with my son to explore the tree web in warmer weather.
One of the best!
He was an awesome host! Let us stay in the cool little shack even though we didn’t book it! His property is beautiful. Off the grid. Lots to do and see. And the net in the trees was AMAZING!
I HIGHLY recommend this to anyone. Will definitely be coming back this summer!
Glad to have found this gem!
This was such a great experience! Even through the pouring rain, staying in the cozy cottage was magical! Great walking trails through the woods, the structures on the property are so fun and unique! Great place to stay!
Kerry is a wonderful host. The property is beautiful. The tree net and tire swing are always a favorite. There is plenty to do in the area as it’s close to Marengo Cave and hiking. Will be returning every year!
Peacful family friendly campsite!
Happy Hollows was such a peaceful campsite! We were tucked away in the back of the property and had easy access to a toilet and shower!
Kerry was a great host!! He was very helpful around the site and friendly!
We will be back to camp again, highly recommend!
