Please come and enjoy our private fishing pond or Yellow River edge for fishing. There is much wild life to see as well such as wild turkey, deer, turtles, ducks and geese. We have many farm animals but we really like to feature our Highland cattle, that are always visible to watch from several of the campsites. Children always enjoy a prearranged visit to our farm area to see the baby calves, goats chickens and pigs. Enjoy a stroll thru our mowed wooded pathways. Cool off in the ice cold shallow creek. Sit back and relax by the river. Camp in privacy under the mature trees, beside the pond approximately 1/4 of a mile off of the road. For our swimming enthusiasts, visit the lakeside beach of Lake Maxinkuckee just 6 miles from the site. While your there enjoy a ice cream cone from the original Root Beer stand or an iced coffee from the downtown Cafe. This quaint little town also features one of the oldest military boarding schools still operated. Enjoy a stroll around the grounds and pathways along with the summer students at Culver Militarily Academy.

From the moment we arrived Janet and John made us feel welcome. Janet gave us the run down of the property and information about the trails, stream, river and pond. Everything was beyond perfect, it was a perfect location and a perfect experience. We were able to meet the Highland cows.and all of the other farm animals.
We cant wait to come back!!!

We had a lovely time at the Happy Highland Homestead. The campsite was well maintained and perfect for our group of 7. Janet was a very friendly and welcoming host - her and her husband taught us all about raising animals and their life on the farm. They even let us feed some of the cattle! Highly recommend visiting here.

We had a great time and very accomodating hosts. The highland cows and goats are fun to see.
The site is absolutely beautiful with a pond and a stream. The hosts are friendly and the Highland cattle are sweet and welcoming. Janet prepared a fabulous dinner for us -- complete with tablecloth, cloth napkins and lighted centerpiece!

Great place with great people
We had a nice stay at Happy Highland Homestead. Janet and John were kind and helpful. They met us when we arrived and showed us to our campsite and provided branches for firewood. The site was well-maintained and the composting toilet was clean and cutely-decorated. The Homestead is a huge property. Unfortunately we had a rainy and very buggy weekend so we didn't get to explore as much as we'd like. But Janet and John gave us a tour of their property, taught us about their animals and garden, and let our kids feed and hold some animals. We headed to nearby Lake Maxinkuckee where we rented kayaks. The Lake also has a great playground for kids. I recommend this site to others, just don't forget your bugspray!

We had a great stay with Janet at her absolutely lovely site next to a pond. Very comfortable and quiet. Would highly recommend and stay there again.
