For tent set up, you are able to choose to camp In a wooded area (which has access to the lake), or an open site by the water. The campsite is about 1/4 mile off the highway, with the wooded area providing you some privacy, and protect you from the wind. The open campsite allows for a great area to sit and have a view of the lake. Do you like fishing? There plenty of fish to be caught! Large mouth, crappie, and bluegill. You are welcome to bring your own canoe, kayak, or paddle boat and explore the lake. Great little spot to come, relax, connect to nature, and to unplug for a day or weekend!! We had a great experience at this location! Jill and Ben we’re wonderful hosts, accommodating us in whatever we needed to be comfortable. Our last night at camp we got hit with a terrible storm and they not only offered us shelter if we needed out of the rain but they also came to our camp the next morning offering towels to dry our belongings off to be packed. Very sociable, friendly, and kind people.
Aside from that, our camp was beautiful and clean, sitting right on the water. The fish from the lake were plentiful and of good eating size. I woke up in the early in the morn on the first day and two otters were frolicking in the lake in front of camp and came up about 10 or 15 ft from the bank. There is plenty of wildlife to observe and enjoy. There were also a couple of trails and a treehouse that we were able to walk to and explore, which was perfect for our 6 yr old. Very kid friendly place and very safe feeling. Overall we had a lovely experience and would go back in a heartbeat to do it all over again!
Had a nice weekend on Jill’s land. Beautiful lake to look out on right from your tent. Outhouse facilities were nice and convenient. Road noise can be heard at night while sleeping, therefore seemed less secluded than originally thought. And the site is a slight walk down a hill from where you can park your vehicle - therefore if car-camping, be aware that you’ll have to hand-carry all of your gear. More of a walk-in setup rather than car-camping site.
Beautiful, secluded site
The site is very private and well-shaded by trees, with a small dock and a nice view of the lake. Jill and her family were incredibly welcoming and helpful at every step of the way. We had a great time there, and would highly recommend Camp Sour Worm!
