The magical woods awaits you just behind our show horse farm. Tranquil. Peaceful. Beautiful. A world away is within reach.

Just 20 miles from Starved Rock, This large primitive site is at the base of the small hill leading to our "Magical Woods". There is more open space and it is closer to the parking area and a CLEAN port a potty. This site will allow for larger tents and a dining fly. Across the way is our site 2, Moon Over Meadow,  which will allow larger groups to  combine and be together. It is possible, when it is dry to drive a small SUV to this site.  However pasture gates must be opened and closed by farm staff at an appointed time. Therefore it is not always convenient for those camping. Patience is required.

The meadow has a numerous varieties of wild flowers and a mulberry tree near by that are excellent to eat in season. There is room to kick the ball around or catch a wee bit of sun. A Great Family Site.

Great site! A bit of a walk from the parking area, but the host was very kind and helped bring camping gear back on their trailer. Site was perfectly large enough for 6 of us to set up 3 tents and be totally comfortable.

My 2nd time at Meadows Edge. This time the temps were in the 90s and a Thunderstorm brewing. Heidi, the host, offered me her home as camping would have been very unpleasant and wet. Can’t thank Heidi enough for her generosity!

We were happy to offer you shelter. That storm was terrible and the heat was miserable. I am glad we had to to offer. Safe travels!

Good basic campsite with friendly horses, cats, dogs and other cats nearby if you want to visit with them, which our boys loved. Fire starter provided was very helpful and Heidi was friendly, accommodating and super prompt with communication. We didn't get a chance to explore but large area for hikes and pond down right from the campsite.

Heidi was an absolute gem of a host, and my kids loved all the animals at her farm. Be aware that you have to walk through or around the horse corral to get to the porto potty, but it's not too long of a walk. As well, the only negative was the rager of a party at a nearby campground. It went until the wee hours of the morning which took away from the wonderful ambiance of the wooded area behind their farm.

I am so sorry about the party at Glenwood Farms - which is the residential camp ground down the road from me. Usually it is so quiet here in the country. I hope you will be by our way again, perhaps we can show you the peace and quiet we are famous for. Heidi

Spent one night at Heidi’s on a cross-country trip with kids and pup in tow. Heidi is a wonderful and accommodating host. She’s also a political/social activist and has a podcast to show for. Arriving is a bit surreal as you are instantly surrounded by horses, chickens, cats, and dogs - all friendly and living in perfect harmony - a lesson us humans can learn. While the sites are a short walk from the parking area, Heidi let us drive to our site since we have a rooftop tent. The site itself was comfortable with a table, a few chairs, and a fire pit. It is well-protected by tall trees. We had a great sleep and next morning left with a dozen eggs courtesy of the chickens we met the day before! Pleasant stay!
