Take a hop/skip/and a jump and you will land in Towanda IL that boasts my favorite "waterin' hole" Kicks Bar and Grill if you get in the mood for a great pizza, burger, beverage - AND lots of tvs for your favorite game or race! We are just minutes from Bloomington-Normal with numerous amenities and entertainment.
Think of this as a farm stay; a place to pull off the road, relax awhile, stay over and regroup, wash your vehicle, enjoy some peace and quiet. There is plenty of pasture space; sites are first come/first serve. We have privacy behind buildings, shade under our huge trees, or out in the wide open space!
I am listing this as an outdoor stay and it will be priced accordingly. There is space in the barn (NO NO NO smoking or fires!!!) for an additional fee., so we can provide you a place even when it is getting chilly.

Idyllic escape 2 hours from chicago
This place is like going back in time! It's so cute, very well-maintained and we loved the rustle of the cornstalks and the crickets singing us to sleep. There are plenty of good spots to pitch a tent throughout the property and Jo was very welcoming and helpful. She even let us use the real bathroom inside the barn / event space (which wasn't being used) and we really appreciated this unexpected amenity. We hope to come back in the fall!

This place is unreal, and in some ways, I don't even want to review it because I want to keep it a secret! Great farm, great host, a wonderful place to camp and unwind. Close to stores and restaurants, if needed. We had a great time and plan on visiting again and again! Thank you for everything Jo!

We made this our home base for a wedding weekend. It was really close to everything in Normal. Jo was an excellent host. The barn was rented out next to us both nights for college parties but all was quiet by 11:00 pm. This would be a great location for a wedding or family gathering as you could rent the barn and have several electric and non electric sites. We would use this as a home base again! Thanks Jo

This is a nice spot, just know that it's not too far from an interstate and a railroad.
Had a great time staying at Jo’s property! She was so sweet and came around to check in on me and my dog. There is a light at the north end of the barn that comes on at night so if you’re in a tent and sensitive to light, I would avoid it! But if you’re like me and it’s no big deal, facing out into the north pasture gives a great view of the sunset!
Great place to stay with a very friendly and helpful host. The barn and farm area is very nice and rustic with everything you could need - running water, 2 bathrooms (toilets, sinks, lights and all, not outhouses), some shade by the side of barns or under trees, a fire pit, and firewood. The host, Jo, was very friendly and helpful. She was the perfect balance of caring and available while also giving us privacy to relax and just hang out on her land. There's a large Walmart a few miles away in case you need anything, and the site was just off the road, so very accessible. Just know that you're near-ish to a midsized country road, so if you're looking for far away from civilization, dense forest, or whatever, that's not what The Old Rugged Barn is. But if you're looking for a quiet private farm/barn vibe to set up camp with running water and toilets nearby, then you've found the perfect place.
The Old Rugged Barn (and Jo) are both gems. The property is beautiful, spacious, and safe. Jo was very responsive and made us feel comfortable during our last minute stay. I’d stay here again if we ever drive through the area. Those seeking an event space are in for a real treat once the barn restoration is complete.
