We live on a 19 acre hobby farm with chickens, ducks, a pig and a pair of sheep and miniature donkeys. We are a certified wildlife habitat and care deeply about all forms of life on our property. As such we avoid toxic chemicals and use natural and organic products. We kindly ask that if you choose to visit our home and land that you please practice the same methods or use extreme caution when applying Deet etc. so as to minimize the impact on wildlife. We also ask that you do not harm any wild critters with the exception of mosquitoes, ticks and biting flies. If you need help relocating any other creepy crawlies we are happy to assist. The campsite is near a wooded area with a creek. You can walk to a pond full of frogs and turtles. We have a tree house with nature games and books, a wildflower labyrinth and about 3/4 mile of trails in the woods. We are located very near several conservation areas with extensive hiking opportunities (Rock Springs and Sand Creek). Decatur has a new water park (Splash Cove) and Overlook Adventure Park has batting cages, miniature golf and a ropes course. The Children's Museum of IL and Scovill Zoo are also fun for the kids. The Decatur Wellness Collective is located nearby and offers massage, yoga, meditation, reiki and Float therapy. There are also several local breweries (Door 4 Brewing, Decatur Brew Works and Golden Fox Brewing). We are certain that you will enjoy your stay here!

We enjoyed our stay at Peaceful Prairie very much. It is a charming place, full of rustic beauty. Jim and Sara spent time with us by a campfire and we enjoyed the lively conversation.
My son and I took our homebuilt camper near Decatur and spent two nights on Jim and Sara's farm. They offered us more than one option of where to set up. We chose an out-of-the-way spot towards the back of their land where they also have a very cool treehouse.
Friendly people with friendly animals :-) We'd definitely return.

Jim and Sara were more than gracious hosts on their incredible land in Decatur. From setting out fire wood, chairs, garbage and recycling bins to inviting us on a hike, they're wonderful people and the property is not to miss.
Wish we could have spent more time with them or just taking in their farm, but alas, we were in town to visit family and spent most of our days away.
Sara and Jim are incredibly nice hosts,
When you go Camping you know you won’t have all the comfort as you are in the country, but they made sure is, specially our kids were content and the experience of interacting with the animals was the best part of the weekend for them!
We are happy we found their beautiful place!
