The hosts were amazing and incredibly hospitable. On a solo cross-country trip with just my dog I felt immediately comfortable with the campground that Jo and her husband provided. They made sure that all of my needs were met and were so sweet in making sure I was safe and warm on a cold night. I would stay here again without hesitation and would recommend it to anyone looking for a place to camp or stay the night!
Simple, relaxed, clean, and safe
Quiet Countryside Camping is exactly that. Accessing the site is easy from a low traffic road onto a full gravel driveway back to the parking site. Amenities include 30 amp electric hookup, open ended and sided carport, picnic table, grill and portable toilet (not handicap accessible) with a light that works after sunset. The owners are very friendly and work to make every situation work; they even offered free bank fishing in the adjacent pond. The site is simple, orderly and clean. My only suggestion would be to add a splitter to their water spigot so campers could hook their own hose for water. A very nice place to camp for those who want to get away from shoulder to shoulder RV camping and listen to the coyotes serenade anyone who wants to listen.
This campsite was gorgeous, and peaceful. The hosts were so lovely, they made sure all our needs were met. Kindred spirits! The campsite was impeccably clean. Had a fire in front of the pond, and enjoyed a great meal from the little bar down the street, inexpensive and all homemade. We hated to have to leave!! Highly recommend this little gem!!!
Quiet Countryside exceeded our expectations. It was only about 5 minutes from the interstate and easy to find. We received a warm welcome from Jo and her husband on arrival. We fell asleep looking at the sun set over the beautiful pond and when we woke up the full moon was reflecting across the water. What a restful and pretty spot……don’t hesitate to book for yourself.
Great stay! We really like the Hipcamps with single sites. Jo and Leon are wonderful hosts. They have put a lot of thoughtful touches into their site: 30-amp electrical, level gravel site, covered area adjacent to site with sink and running water, garbage can, multiple chairs, Coleman fire pit with ample fire wood. We stayed two nights and had a beautiful sunset one night. The other night was pouring rain but the fire pit still worked well. Jo and Leon are friendly and conscientious hosts. We would definitely recommend their Hipcamp.
We did laundry at Vandal Wash in Vandalia, which is a clean and well-run laundromat. We also had an excellent lunch at Baan Thai in downtown Vandalia. We loved their spicy fried calamari and fresh spring rolls.
The spot is great, very flat space to park any size rv, carport covering for hanging out in. Pond has frogs, and fish and other life. Hosts were very hospitable and pleasant. We would stay there again.
