Camping on this land was the best experience we've had out of state! Very secluded, and feels safe. Would recommend to friends and family.

LAST HURRAH LIST

Review:

If you are new to camping but want to give it a shot: STAY HERE. If you’re a city slicker and need a break from the hustle: STAY HERE. If you’re a seasoned primitive camper and have to scratch that itch: STAY HERE. Wally’s property is one of only two HipCamp listings in Cook County, and my best friend and I were delighted from the minute we pulled in. It felt like we were worlds away. Wally was incredibly friendly & accommodating, he let us use a golf cart to pack our gear out to our site. The site itself was very secluded and HUGE, plenty of space for a large group. We had an amazing time, thank you Wally!

Excellent experience. Hosts Walter & Joanne are very accommodating and ensure a lovely stay. The goats are interesting and fun to do some yoga poses around. Big space means a lot of nature to see and experience. Hope to return soon.

I loved staying here. The hosts were just amazing. I forgot a couple things and they were great about it. They also have the best dogs. I could sit with them all day. So friendly. I'm bad at names but the wife was so wonderful to my son. She was so patient. Sorry he chased the ducks. Lol. I loved the goat yoga. I don't think I ever want to do goatless yoga again. We will absolutely be back. I wanted to come again the next week! Really just a great set up and wonderful hosts. Couldn't ask for better.

Just and incredible piece of property to camp, with even better hosts. The camping spots, the goats, the trails, the scenery are all awesome and will keep you busy while relaxing. The cherry on top, is the host. Walter and Joann are kind souls who enjoy sharing their Utopia with others. This place is a must on your next camping adventure.

Great place to visit. We were driving through & needed an overnight stay. Great spot. Son loved all the animals & swing. Trails for a beautiful evening walk over the creek.
Would definitely recommend & looking forward to our next stay.

This farm was our best experience on our trip across the USA. Walter and his wife treated us like their family from the first second. They are very kind people. Our children were very happy that they could play and feed the little goats. Thank you very much for a wonderful stay. We will definitely come back to you.

My 2 young boys and I had a great time camping at Deer Creek. We parked our car near the house and then were given a golf cart for the duration of our stay to transport our tent etc to the campsite and also to use the toilet in the basement of the house if we needed it.

The camp site was beautifully laid out and had all the amenities that we needed. Endless amounts of fire wood (It gave me joy to burn invasive Buckthorn!), a 50 gallon barrel of water for rinsing our dishes. I loved watching the birds come to the feeder at our spot. I was watching Downy Woodpeckers, Black-capped Chickadees and White-breasted Nuthatches visit frequently as well as Blue Jay's, Red breasted Woodpeckers & Hairy Woodpeckers. Plenty of Great Blue Heron's in the creek too. Oh and Red-tailed Hawks and an Eastern Kingbird. I woke up to Kentucky Warblers singing.

I thoroughly enjoyed spending time with the goats as we bottle fed the 2 babies and walked with them to the back paddock. There were a ton of mushrooms that I had fun identifying too. Mostly Bolete's and Russula's.

I'd love to go back again, because it was so convenient from where I live just north of Chicago. My son wanted camping but with access to a bathroom like our State campground visits, but with less people and this easily ticked those boxes.

We loved staying in the wooded site on Walter's property! He was so friendly and very accommodating during our late arrival. He even gave us a golf cart to pack our stuff out into the woods after showing us around a little. Beware of tiny goat screams at night. Scared me til I remembered there were goats nearby!

Lots of awesome mushroom activity to observe in the woods as well. We had a great stay and would highly recommend this spot! Hoping we can stay again in the future and enjoy it for a little longer!
