If you stayed here and have some insider info for us, let us know!
This was a much needed respite. Hank and Aissa were excellent hosts. The barn had lots more than we anticipated- mini fridge, freezer, microwave, nice bathroom and extra blankets. Our kids loved the chickens, fire pit was great, and hosts were available and helpful but also let us have space to play and relax. We did the river trail hike at rock springs- was lovely!
We had such a fun weekend staying in the 1912 Vintage Barn. The barn itself is so cool... definitely your authentic barn experience but with a few cute decorative touches. Our kids loved it. Just expect to be woken up by the resident rooster at the crack of dawn. The place has a fire pit that we used for a campfire style dinner and s’mores, and each morning we had fresh eggs from the chicken coop. They surprised us with a pot of coffee in the AM which was also super sweet. I would stay here again. And recommend it for anyone who wants a new experience.
Living the rural dream
Aissa and Hank were so welcoming and the barn is such a fun experience and beautiful. The lighting is cozy, both in and around the barn and there are homey touches that add to the atmosphere. It is a somewhat open air barn so birds flit in and out in the morning and you might get a visit from the curious cat.
Perfectly pastoral in every way!
The 1912 barn is a true delight! My husband and I spent Labor Day weekend there with our seven-year-old daughter, and we had such a wonderful time. Hank and Aissa are warm and kind hosts, and they really have thought of everything! There was an immaculately clean porta potty with a handwashing station just outside, and we had access to an indoor bathroom with a shower if needed. The barn itself is so warm and cozy and just what we had hoped it would be – – a place to relax and unwind and to have a different lodging experience than we’ve ever had before. The chickens were so much fun for our daughter – – she absolutely loved collecting eggs in the morning and petting them and getting to know them over the course of our stay. We had the option to bring your camper or a tent, but we chose to sleep in the barn. The hosts provided sheets and a comforter for the brass bed located up in the hayloft as well as a sleeping pad for use on the floor. There’s also plenty of room to bring your own cot or air mattress if you desire. Hank and Aissa put out lawn games each day, and we bought wood so we can have a campfire in the evenings. The stars are amazing, and we enjoyed the moon rise every night over the cornfields behind the barn. We brought our own pots and pans and cooked up our farm fresh eggs for breakfast using the charcoal grill at the site—they were delicious! There is a coffee maker, a microwave, and a refrigerator for guests to use inside the barn. Our hosts also put out a dishwashing station by the outdoor water pump to make life a little easier. We played lots of lawn games (croquet, cornhole, horseshoes, frisbee, ring toss) during the day and board games inside the barn after dark. It was a wonderful time, and none of us were really ready to leave when the time came. If you were looking for a really fun and very different place to stay, try the 1912 barn. If you are squeamish about bugs or chickens running around your living space, you might want to skip it. For us, it was a wonderful time and we plan to go back again!
Perfect family of 4 getaway
Aissa and Hank were super friendly and accommodating! Their property was well kept and beautiful. It was a perfect get away for our family. We were a little surprised that we could hear the highway at night but the ambiance of the barn and property dominated that distraction. The free range chickens and rooster added an extra element that made the experience enjoyable. We utilized the refrigerator and was happy to have access to a clean bathroom and shower.
