Drive a mile up old private logging roads to the tip of our mountain and pitch a tent with incredible mountain views all around you! The property is 140 acres of private land, forested and very steep, which you will have completely to yourself, with all kinds of hiking opportunities and amazing views. Less than 2 miles total drive from the quaint historic town of Wallace with tons of great shops, restaurants, breweries, festivals, and more. You'll see the town far below you (and yes, unfortunately you may hear some of the highway noise despite being 600 ft. above it all). Our land is less than a mile from the highway for those just passing through and looking for a unique place to camp on the way. Also there is great cell service here on the mountain top - much better than in the town.

DRY CAMPING. No amenities are provided except access to your own private Idaho mountain and a stone fire pit in the middle of camp. Carry in what you'll need, pack everything out again. There is a pay-per-use showerhouse at a nearby RV park.

Watch for abundant wildlife. This mountain has a lot of elk! And cougar, bear, moose, deer, coyote, rabbits, bobcats, grouse, turkey, ... it's unlikely you will encounter much but they do live on the land so prepare accordingly. (No hunting allowed). Lots of trails to hike throughout the 140 acres and enjoy dense pine forests and incredible views all around, just you and the wildlife!

PLEASE NOTE that 4WD is required, and it's not recommended for wide vehicles unless you don't mind getting a few "pinstripes" from the trees along the road. We may be able to shuttle you to the campsite if we are available. It is possible to park at the bottom of the mountain and backpack up the logging roads -- one mile with some steep areas that may leave you winded.

WARNING: this site is strongly NOT RECOMMENDED for children or dogs because there are VERY steep drop-offs all around the camp.

This campsite has great views! Just as advertised. I’m sad that there was a fire warning in the area so that we couldn’t enjoy the fire pit setup that was there. I’d definitely recommend, especially if you’re going to bike at Hiawatha the next day.

This spot lives up to the hype. I'd love to come back when there are less fires/smoke and with a group. The site is definitely big enough for a sweet crew of pals, but it was also perfectly peaceful for a pair. We normally look for dispersed National Forest Camping, but we were coming from a long day of driving and it was SO worth it to have a camping site reserved -- and a site like this one surpasses expectation. A big thanks to these awesome hosts, who are very clear and accurate in their description of the place as well as their follow-up directions. We ended up arriving after dark and were thankful for the super clear directions, they led us to the spot without need to additional assistance! We were prepared for the logging road thanks to the info, that was no problem with a 4WD. Lots of tall grass along the way brushing the bottom of the truck so I get the suggestion for higher clearance, but the "point" itself was clear, which made us feel very fire-safe (we were able to park the car without the exhaust coming near to any tall grass, etc). Once at the top we could tell we'd be waking up to crazy views, and we weren't wrong! We enjoyed a slow and peaceful breakfast up at the point and moseyed into the historic town of Wallace for a late morning coffee date (at 6th & Cedar) before getting back on the road. Highly recommend this to anyone and I'd love to return with a bit more time, more clear skies and a fun crew.

sweet view to wake up tologs around the firepitlovely firepit, small table and flat log provided were helpful for coffee! wildflowers and mountain view (a bit hazy from the fires)

Lovely site! We’d definitely stay there again. Barbara had a rock lined campfire pit with water for extinguishing. Plus there are some logs for sitting and a couple of nice surfaces for cooking. Great moon viewing and despite the smoke from the many fires in the west, we could still see stars. I can only imagine how awesome the night sky would be from this mountain top on a clear night. The drive up wasn't too challenging, though without high-ish clearance and AWD it would have been a different story. Thanks for sharing the land with us, we had a great time.

This site was breathtaking. Pictures will never do justice of the views and the peace of this site. The host supplied more than we imagined of water jugs to put out our fire, some spare fire wood and a convenient way to cook your food on the fire. While the road says 4wd required it also requires a car able to handle tighter turns. The road up the mountains was more extreme than we expected but our Sportage (awd) handled it like a champ while I’ve had past 4wd cars that would for sure have gotten stuck in a turn. This site is beyond worth it and we will definitely be back. Your crazy and missing a huge opportunity if you don’t go.
