Perched up about 50 feet over Mirror Lake, this campsite is like a postcard. Sitting in a mountain bowl on one end of the lake, campers will have gorgeous views and sunsets. Fishing, swimming, kayaking, paddle boarding, sailing, hiking and wildlife watching abounds. The campsite is off-the-beaten path so you'll be away from the crowds. Yet the site is located conveniently from the following attractions:
- just 10 minutes from the bigger Lake Pend Oreille (Talache Landing) where you can jet ski, water ski, kayak, scuba dive, etc.
- only 15 minutes from charming downtown Sandpoint and the marina, where you can enjoy a nice meal at dozens of amazing restaurants along the waterfront.
- about 30 minutes from the Silverwood Theme Park and Water Park, where you can ride the steam railroad and escape to the Old West!
Each campsite has a picnic table, fire pit and RV access. Campsite #1 is a direct pull-through site, and is more secluded in the woods. This site is definitely the easiest to access for RVs, but there are no direct lake views from the site. (You must walk about 30 feet for lake views.) Campsite #2 is a round-about site which is better for smaller or mid-size RVs. This site is more central, larger, and has gorgeous lake views. (Note: Campsites #3 and #4 are pull-in and designated for tent/car/van campers only.) See campground map in the photos for site locations.
A swimming/fishing dock exists at the lakefront, and there is a public-use boat ramp just down the road.

This place was so beautiful and worked out great. Our spot was Huge! Tons of room plenty of seclusion, didn’t see a single person. View of lake, tons of fire wood, beautiful sturdy picnic table and lovely fire ring. We looked at all the spots and they are all very nice. Easy to find.
Very peaceful, private, and well maintained. We stayed at site #2 and really enjoyed the ever present lake view. If we are ever back in the area, would love to stay again.
An absolutely gorgeous camping experience. The drive into this Hip camp takes you by a “typical” campground as a reminder how most campgrounds have all the sites packed in like sardines. Nathan’s sites are well spaced out giving you privacy for you entire stay. Everything was well manicured and groomed perched above the lake offering a spectacular view. Walking the back towards the other campground you will find hiking trails which will take you to the top of the ridge line where you can see Sandpoint, Schweitzer ski resort, Lake Pend O’Rille and more. Absolutely stunning views.
Nice location with great hiking nearby. Very quiet. Site #1 doesn’t have the lake view but is very private. Good for a small RV, with level gravel and a fire pit on a wooded hillside - a little like being in a treehouse.
Really nice place. Well set up and clean. The work Nathaniel put in to create this place is amazing. We will be back!
I'm thinking that we were the first people to stay at this location. We were in site 2 which was is well laid out and clean. It looks like Nathaniel is still putting some finishing touches on this location....like adding rock to help keep dust levels down. When it's all done, it will be nice. Site 2 is spacious, has a great table, and when the fire ban is off...it has 2 great fire pits. Good view of Mirror Lake and we found a wonderful public place, within a couple of miles, on Lake Pend Oreille to swim and boat.
