NEW FOR 2022 : THE RIVER CABIN now has a small front deck ! and a screen on the loft window for improved Summer time ventilation. The River Cabin (192 sf) overlooks the unspoiled Moyie River. Enjoy walking in the forest or sitting by the river to enjoy the beauty of North Idaho. The cabin is surrounded by the Selkirk and Cabinet Mountains and is private with no view of neighbors property and is situated in a 15.4 acre Certified Family Forest. If you hear the rumble of a train at night it's because the Union Pacific passes along the opposite edge of the property from the cabin. There is No Mobile Phone Service. There is WIFI at The River Cabin. We suggest you activate “Cell over WIFI “ on your mobile phone for safety (911 access). There is a variety of wildlife on and around the property. The log cabin has electricity, with seasonally appropriate fans/heaters. There is a small refrigerator with freezer compartment, 1.4 cf Microwave, a hot plate, a Keurig coffeemaker, pans and a toaster oven. It has a set of twin size bunk beds, a twin size Futon/sofa. The small loft has two sleeping mats. The luxury (just kidding) outhouse is nearby. The cabin does not have water, but a spigot at the host's cabin provides fresh well water; a short haul to the cabin. A Gorilla Polycart (13” tires) is on-site for moving larger water containers. A camp site sized area between the cabin and river overlook has a fire pit, covered shelter, featuring a USFS-style charcoal grill, benches and picnic table and a Bear Box for food and beverage storage ( April 1 until November 1 ). Firewood is provided but bring your own charcoal. Size wise it is ideal for a couple. There is also room for a small tent site near the fire pit area and a larger tent site across from the cabin for additional guests. There is a hammock and disc golf “hole”. OUR NIGHTLY FEE Includes all the firewood you need, various cabin supplies and 10% Hipcamp Service Fee. This cabin and property are so special. Well stocked, the outdoor kitchen area is a dream as well.
My dogs and I enjoyed an entire day just playing at the rivers edge and relaxing.
Only suggestions are bring good bug repellent and perhaps earplugs (trains nearby).
10/10 would stay again!
We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves at Iron Horse River Cabin. It was private, quiet and very relaxing. We had fun watching the local wildlife and cooked some trout we caught at nearby Robinson Lake over the campfire…good times.

Freshly caught Trout over the campfire says it all! Thanks for visiting Far North Idaho.
This cabin is perfect, if you love to Camp but can't sleep in a tent then this is the next best thing. Beautiful property and the river views are amazing. Plenty of hiking and breathtaking scenery to keep you occupied. The shower house is a huge bonus. I didn't get the opportunity to meet Paul but he had excellent communication. Can't wait to visit again, this will definitely be my new annual vacation.

We are glad you had a great visit and will be honored to be your annual camping Vacay. 😎
First off Paul is an amazing host, always very welcoming!
We enjoy his river cabin every time we go (4 times so far). It is great watching it grow over the years.
We loved the new patio on the cabin and the new editions inside the cabin as well, like the large dorm fridge/freezer and microwave...for when you are over the smoke for the night.
Scooby was in heaven playing and splashing in the water!
Now we are just waiting for the water slide! *wink wink* :-)

Glad you had a good visit and the River wasn’t running too fast for Scooby. Water slide, now there is an idea! Have a great Summer.
Awesome little cabin in a stunningly beautiful area! I'm worried if I leave a review other people will find about this little treasure!!!

Tiffany, We are glad you found it ! Lots more to see/do in North Idaho; we hope you will pay us the compliment of a return visit! Thanks again for your visit.
It is always such a magical place here. Very therapeutic time, the cabin is lovely, and the land gorgeous. Appreciate all of the amenities offered. It's like camping, without all the work.

Danielle, Thanks for the compliment of multiple visits to our forest!
Absolutely love this little piece of paradise!! This is my husband and I and our two doggies favorite camping place. We have been multiple times and have more trips booked this summer. The cabin is cute and cozy. Has a nice little wood stove and a space heater. Also has lots of kitchen appliances. We go camping in the spring, summer and fall. When it's warm we play outside and it never bothers us when it's rainy because the view is beautiful and relaxing. Paul is a very good host and he is always making improvements on his property including a very nice deck this year and a hot shower previously. Our favorite thing is he is very pet friendly. We love getting away with our dogs and they are always welcome to come. Such a great place!!

Thanks Sheila ! We appreciate your love of our special little cabin in the forest and look forward to your return this Summer !
Paul’s place was exactly what we were looking for. We brought our camping equipment but didn’t need to. The cabin is equipped with everything we needed except our sheets and blankets. The setting was outstanding and our pups loved the land. We headed into Canada a few times and went on some fabulous hikes. We will definitely return. I am.

Thanks for being our first Hipcampers this Spring! Stevie and Maisie also seemed to approve. Happy Trails To You ! …and do come back.
My husband and I really enjoyed our stay during a very chilly New Years weekend. The wood stove kept the cabin plenty warm, especially in the top bunk and up in the loft. The area feels very private and quiet and watching the river was very peaceful. Our dog loved running around in the snow and sniffing the deer tracks that were running through the woods around the property.

Most HipDogs beg their people to bring them back in Summer ! 🙂 Glad you enjoyed the forest despite bitter cold. Happy New Year!

Thanks for visiting! Sorry to hear the “Iron Horses” were making their presence known. Usually they will avoid the horn unless there are vehicles at nearby unprotected crossings.
