Super unique spot to stay on the island. Colin was super communicative before our trip. Made our first hipcamp easy.
The best part was being able to chat with Colin about his story. Very passionate and wonderful person that is living his dream with his family.
It is camping on a farm. So don't expect a beach side resort. You'll have likely beautiful stars and nice coqui frog to help you sleep. It was one of the quietest nights we had on our 2 week trip.
We'll definitely come back.
P.S. make sure you follow the written instructions. It makes getting there easy. Don't be like Jim and get lost and have to pulled out of the mud
Colin, his wife, and dogs were all amazing hosts! They recommended a great nearby coffee tour to us, which our whole group went to and enjoyed. The Hipcamp itself is on beautiful land and we got a great view of the stars at night. It has a port-a-potty and that’s pretty much it. I would definitely recommend Colin’s Hipcamp!
We stayed one night in a campervan. The farm was very nice and peaceful. Colin the host was helpful and greeted us for a late check-in. The temperature was cool at the elevation of the farm which was nice for sleeping. The location is fairly close to Kona.
Although we did not come across Jim, we did find the campsite and it was very pleasant.
Road up is challenging, so ensure you don’t be like Jim and remember to go slow. The tortoise always wins the race.
Colin’s dry wit was welcoming and Sally was super helpful and kind.
Colin is just just a salt of the earth kinda guy! Thanks for making us feel so welcome! We loved our stay on his lush farm - the driveway is just part of the experience. The views of the moon and stars are unreal! Follow his instructions and you’ll have a great time.
