Rufus Poets Corner Market was created by an artist, poet, painter, novelist and farmer. It was established as an eco farm to instill the values and importance of sustainability on an island and community spiritual conveyance. My son Khalil and I have been farming all our lives. We grow cacao, coffee, fruits and veggies, and we have a plant nursery. Divine Hawaiian Coffee is my son's company.

The 40-acre eco farm is unique in many ways, It’s located next to the town of Pahoa. You can literally walk from the back road or highway and be in this old historic town with access to the community. It has 6 banyan trees of epic proportion. We have coffee started at 6 am each morning. You will be able to visit our restaurant soon, which we are in the process of building. The bus, post office and stores are only a thousand feet away. The farm is very accessible.

Rufus's property is conveniently located, just outside of Pahoa, but gives you the privacy of a secluded forest getaway. He has set the camping area back from the road, and has cleared a nice spot for his campers. It's so great that he provides a solar shower too! Make sure that you are clear on the directions because my GPS took me very out of the way from where it actually is. Rufus also has a market at the front of the property where he sells local art and goods. Rufus is an artist himself and I got to hear some of his beautiful poetry, he is very talented! Ask him to recite Requiem for a White Owl! Some other highlights of this property include the picnic table for cooking and dining and the beautiful old banyan tree at the back of the land that Rufus showed me. Thank you for showing me around Rufus, it was a pleasure meeting you!

I was van camping and found Rufus place and decided to give it a try. He had some tents already set up and some very primitive shacks as options. I stayed in my camper van. The glow from Leilani estates 2018 eruption was visible in the night sky. Rufus “ Bushman” has just killed a wild pig and he and some of his Guayana worker cleaned and butchered the pig Hawaiian style. Rufus and his crew were very welcoming and generous. We played dominoes and listened to dominoes till late. Offered me a shower in the morning and had coffee ready to go at 6am. Got a chance to tell story with Rufus in the morning but did not stay long enough to try the smoked ribs.

Rufus was very welcoming and we were pleased to stay at his place. The spot was set back from the road enough to give lots of privacy and up on a small hill with a lovely view in the morning. The only drawback was the mosquitoes, but that's to be expected in a lush tropical location like this. He had a little nursery with tons of exotic looking plants, and, were we not getting on a plane to go home tomorrow, i definitely would have bought a few to take with me.

Really enjoyed our stay! Wish we could have stayed longer. Rufus has a sweet little roadside stand and suggested some great beaches and drives to take during our stay. Very accommodating and we slept so well in the lush location!

Rufus’s coffee farm was a divine place to stay! We camped in our pop-up truck tent for two nights right between the coffee plants and patch of goats. There’s a clean port-a-john available and a nice outdoor shower full of plants. really just an awesome campsite with immaculate vibes. Rufus was also such an incredible and welcoming host. He sold us a a bag of fresh organic coffee and ground it for us, and also let us use his coffee making setup every morning. He made us coffee and gave us coconuts and plenty of firewood. The market is so cool as well! We bought vegetables for dinner one night. 10/10 and definitely coming back.
